Pay: $16.37 + tips

Schedule: Part-time; evening and weekend availability required.

Volstead’s Emporium is hiring a friendly, organized, and dependable Host / Wait Assistant to join our front-of-house team. This role is essential to creating a welcoming first impression, managing the flow of reservations, and helping the dining room operate smoothly throughout service.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys hospitality, takes pride in staying organized, and understands the importance of teamwork in delivering an exceptional guest experience. The ideal candidate is proactive, attentive to detail, and comfortable balancing guest interactions with hands-on support for the service team.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression.
• Manage reservations through Tock, including reviewing bookings, guest notes, and seating preferences.
• Coordinate table assignments and help manage the flow of guests throughout the evening.
• Communicate with servers and management to ensure tables are seated thoughtfully and evenly.
• Monitor upcoming reservations, table availability, and dining room readiness to keep service running efficiently.
• Assist the waitstaff with table setup, bussing, resetting tables, and maintaining cleanliness.
• Ensure the dining room, host stand, and service areas remain organized and presentable.
• Communicate special requests, celebrations, and important guest information to the appropriate team members.
• Help accommodate guest requests while setting realistic expectations about seating availability.
• Support opening, closing, and side-work responsibilities as needed.
• Work closely with servers, bartenders, and management to maintain smooth communication and service.
• Help create a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment for both guests and coworkers.

What We’re Looking For

• The ability to multitask and stay composed during busy service periods.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to take initiative.
• Comfort using reservation systems and technology; experience with Tock is a plus.
• The ability to anticipate guest needs and communicate requests accurately.
• A proactive approach to keeping the dining room clean, organized, and ready for service.
• A willingness to assist wherever needed to support the overall guest experience.
• Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred, but not required.
• A commitment to treating guests and coworkers of all backgrounds and identities with respect.
