Hotel Duty Manager

Join the team at Distinction Te Anau Hotel & Villas and take the lead in delivering exceptional guest experiences in beautiful Fiordland.

We are looking for an experienced Duty Manager to join our team in a full-time, permanent position, with a minimum of 30 hours guaranteed per week with an hourly rate from $30 to $32 per hour, depending on experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role, working on a shift roster, where you will oversee the smooth running of the hotel, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our hotel, contributing to the overall guest experience and the success of the business.

About the role

As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our guests receive friendly, professional and efficient service throughout their stay.  You will lead by example, support your team and confidently manage the day-to-day challenges that come with a busy hotel environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing front desk and reception operations during your shift
• Supervising and coordinating the work of hotel staff to ensure high standards are maintained
• Handling guest enquiries, requests and complaints professionally
• Managing and resolving conflicts effectively
• Taking responsibility for hotel operations and guest experience during your shift
• Completing relevant administration, reporting and end-of-shift procedures
• Assisting with all departments across the hotel as required

About you

We are looking for someone who brings experience, confidence and a genuine passion for hospitality.

You will ideally have:

• 2 years’ experience in a Duty Manager, Supervisor or senior hotel reception role or ready to take the next step
• Strong people-management and leadership skills
• Excellent conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities
• Solid knowledge of hotel reception and front office operations
• A professional, friendly and approachable manner
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A strong focus on delivering outstanding guest experiences
