Hotel General Manager

About the role

Boutique styled city hotel is seeking an experienced Hotel General Manager to lead our property in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is a full-time position offering strategic leadership and operational oversight of all hotel functions. As General Manager, you will be responsible for driving profitability, enhancing guest satisfaction, and maintaining the highest standards of service excellence. This role is critical to the success of our hotel and requires a dynamic leader with proven expertise in hospitality management.

Key responsibilities

• Overseeing all aspects of hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance
• Setting and achieving financial targets, managing budgets, and optimising profitability whilst maintaining service quality
• Developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance guest experience and increase market competitiveness
• Recruiting, training, developing and motivating a high-performing team across all departments
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements across the property
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate clients, travel agents, and key stakeholders
• Managing crisis situations and resolving complex operational challenges with professionalism and discretion
• Monitoring market trends and implementing revenue management strategies to maximise occupancy and average daily rate
• Overseeing guest relations and ensuring all complaints are handled professionally and resolved promptly
• Reporting on hotel performance to senior management and stakeholders on a regular basis

What we're looking for

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in hotel management, with at least 5 years in a General Manager or senior operations role
• Proven track record of successfully managing a full-service hotel property with revenue responsibility
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management
• Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
• Outstanding guest service orientation and commitment to excellence
• Proficiency in hotel management systems and hospitality software
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English
• Proven ability to drive revenue growth and improve operational efficiency
• Knowledge of the Asian hospitality market, particularly Southeast Asia, is advantageous
• Hospitality management certification or relevant qualification is preferred
