About Wildrest

Wildrest is a historic mountain lodge in Waynesville, North Carolina, designed for people who want to slow down, get outside, and reconnect with nature.

We are a small, independent boutique hotel with a relaxed, personal approach to hospitality. We do things a little differently. There is no traditional front desk, and most of our guest experience is handled digitally.

That doesn’t mean we don’t believe in personal hospitality.

We’re looking for a warm, outgoing Guest Host to be the friendly face of Wildrest during our busiest arrival hours.

The Role

As our Guest Host, you’ll help create a smooth, welcoming arrival experience for guests checking into the property.

You won’t be sitting behind a traditional front desk all evening. You’ll be out on the property, welcoming guests, helping them get oriented, answering questions, and making sure they know how to get the most out of their stay.

Think host, concierge, problem solver, and friendly local guide all rolled into one.

What You’ll Do

• Welcome guests as they arrive and make them feel at home
• Help guests navigate parking and find their room or building
• Assist guests who need help with our digital check in process
• Answer questions about the property, amenities, rooms, and local area
• Recommend restaurants, breweries, hiking trails, attractions, and things to do
• Help guests understand how to use amenities and shared spaces
• Assist with simple guest requests and resolve minor issues
• Keep an eye on the property and communicate anything that needs attention
• Help identify potential guest problems before they become complaints
• Communicate with our remote operations team when something requires additional assistance
• Help create a clean, welcoming, relaxed atmosphere around the property
• Occasionally assist with luggage or other reasonable guest needs

You should be:

• Confident, personable, and professional
• A good listener and problem solver
• Comfortable working independently
• Able to stay calm when things don’t go exactly as planned
• Familiar with the Waynesville, Asheville, and Western North Carolina area, or excited to learn it
• Comfortable using a smartphone, tablet, and basic technology
• Reliable and punctual
• Someone who notices the little things that make a guest feel taken care of

Hospitality Experience

Hotel, restaurant, tourism, concierge, Airbnb, event, or customer service experience is a plus, but not required.

We’re more interested in your personality, attitude, and ability to make people feel welcome than whether you’ve worked behind a hotel front desk.

If you’ve ever been the person your friends call when they want to know where to eat, what trail to hike, or what to do in town, you might be a great fit.

The Wildrest Personality

Wildrest is relaxed, rustic, historic, and intentionally different from a traditional hotel.

We’re not looking for someone who wants to deliver a scripted corporate hotel experience.

We’re looking for someone who can say:

“Welcome to Wildrest. Let me show you around.”

and genuinely mean it.

There will be busy moments, unexpected situations, and guests who need a little extra help. There will also be plenty of quieter moments where you can enjoy the property and surroundings.

Schedule

This is a part time position focused primarily on our busiest arrival periods.

Typical shifts will be:

*Friday–Saturday 
Approximately 4:00 PM–7:00 PM*

Additional hours may be available during holidays, special events, and periods of high occupancy.

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 12.0 per week
