Job Summary

Come join the team at the Historic Old Hotel, otherwise known as the West Jefferson Hotel, in West Jefferson, NC!

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical equipment, and building interior components to ensure optimal functionality.
• Repair and maintain facilities equipment, including HVAC units, electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, carpentry tasks, and painting projects.
• Read schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately and execute repairs efficiently.
• Utilize hand tools, electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Conduct welding, electrical work, plumbing repairs, and maintenance painting with precision and safety awareness.
• Lead small maintenance projects or tasks independently while coordinating with team members when necessary.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.

Requirements

• Ensure all hotel rooms and public spaces on site are working properly.
• Respond to maintenance requests of any facet, including but not limited to: electric, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and general construction.
• For instances which require more advanced knowledge of a particular maintenance area (for example, a major deficiency), contact respective experts to quickly respond to the issue.
• Coordinate with front desk and housekeeping personnel in order to understand maintenance needs and progress.
• Be able to keep an organized and current tracking list of maintenance requests, notating new, current, or completed tasks during the day.
• Communicate maintenance purchase needs to hotel management.
• Assist guests with direct maintenance requests as needed.
• Have the ability to work autonomously.
• Must have the ability to stand for extended periods.
• Previous maintenance or construction experience required.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
