Hotel Maintenance Engineer

Full job description

We are searching for a Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Hotel in Tucson. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the effective upkeep of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, performing routine property and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, handling guest requests, and other work orders as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Respond and attend to guest repair requests in a professional, positive, & timely manner.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment.
• Fabricate and repair furniture and fixtures.
• Install and replace lighting fixtures and bulbs.
• Clean carpets and rugs.
• Paint corridors, hotel rooms, and lobby areas when necessary.
• Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
• Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
• Transport heavy boxes and packages within the hotel for maintenance and repairs.
• Assist in delivering and setup of all new equipment such as televisions, mattresses, tables, chairs, etc.
• Assist in ensuring the safety of guests and associates in compliance with all corporate and brand standards and all federal, state and local laws.
• Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.
• Communicate with Maintenance Supervisor on projects as assigned.
• Carry all equipment (e.g., keys, phones, pager, tools, radio) to always maintain preparedness to complete work tasks.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• At least two years of experience as a hotel engineer is preferred or comparable maintenance experience at an establishment such as apartment complex or office building.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance skills
• Excellent communication skills, speaking with guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate, and professional language.
• Ability to bend, squat and lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period.
• A flexible schedule that allows availability days, nights, holidays and weekends based on the demands of the hotel.

Pay: $15.00 - $16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
