Hotel Maintenance Engineer

About the Role

The Park Hotel on the Plaza is hiring a full-time Maintenance Technician to keep our hotel safe, comfortable, and running well for guests and team members. You’ll handle preventive maintenance and repairs on the building and its mechanical systems, inside and out, and you’ll be a go-to person when something needs fixing fast.

What You’ll Do

• Perform minor and major repairs to the building and equipment (larger projects done with the General Manager and/or Chief Engineer)
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance: inspect belts and filters, and repair or replace broken parts
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists and keep maintenance records up to date
• Repair electrical equipment and controls, including switches, motors, lighting, pool pumps, PTAC units, and fitness equipment
• Handle drywall repair, painting, wallpaper, ceiling tiles, floor tiles, and carpet
• Take care of outdoor work: snow plowing, shoveling and salting, mowing, weed trimming, landscaping, and keeping the lot and grounds clean
• Get estimates and order supplies and parts as needed
• Respond to hotel emergencies, including on-call, overtime, evening, weekend, and holiday work when required
• Follow OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and all safety and PPE requirements
• Report incidents, accidents, and unsafe conditions immediately, and take part in fire safety and emergency drills
• Provide friendly, professional service to guests and work well with every department

What We’re Looking For

• Maintenance or repair experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read, write, and follow detailed written or verbal instructions
• Basic math skills, including working with different units of measure
• Patience, professionalism, and a positive attitude, including with upset guests
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good judgment and integrity
• Reliable attendance and flexibility to support operational needs
• Comfort using a radio or other communication devices
• Ability to speak English clearly
• Willingness to work at other properties when assigned

Physical Requirements

• Work indoors and outdoors in heat and cold
• Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach overhead
• Frequently lift, push, and pull typically 25 lbs, up to 50 lbs
• Continuous use of hands and fine motor skills, close vision, and hearing/speaking in person and by phone
• Possible exposure to dust, odors, cleaning chemicals, and bloodborne pathogens (training and PPE provided)
