Position Summary

Promotes sanitary conditions to prevent the spread of infection by accomplishing assigned tasks in assigned areas. Work is performed under close supervision and is limited in nature.

Tasks Performed

According to established routines, practices and procedures:

• Dry mops floors in resident rooms, bathrooms, corridors and lobbies.
• Damp dusts furniture, light fixtures, windowsills, radiators, etc. in assigned areas. Damp dusts all ledges around tile walls in bathrooms. Checks all vacant rooms daily to keep fresh.
• Cleans bathrooms thoroughly, including toilets, sinks, tile, tubs and showers.
• Washes all waste baskets and relines with clean liners.
• Spot cleans walls and cleans vents.
• Straightens all furniture in assigned areas.
• Checks cubicle and shower curtains for cleanliness and needed repairs.
• Removes and replaces cubicle curtains.
• Cleans terminal and terminal isolated patient unit in assigned area.
• Wet mops floors in resident rooms, bathrooms, corridors and lobbies in assigned areas.
• Removes trash.
• Washes windows inside and outside.
• Moves beds.
• Washes baseboards and corners.
• Vacuums carpet areas.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Position Specifications or Requirements

• Education and/or Training: Formal education to the extent of being able to read and write. Must attend the in-service programs and serve a training period under an experienced housekeeping aide.
• Prior Work Experience: Sixth months to a year
• Physical Demands: Must be able to stoop, stretch, crouch without difficulty and handle and use equipment such as ladders, buckets**,** mops, etc.

Hours

• 37.5 hours per week (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), includes working every other weekend.
