What they need

At The Old Rectory care home we are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a warm, welcoming, and beautifully maintained environment. A clean, safe, and comfortable home is at the heart of resident wellbeing, and our housekeeping team plays a vital part in achieving this.

We are now recruiting dedicated, reliable, and compassionate Housekeeping Assistants to join our friendly team on both full-time and part-time contracts.

About the Role

As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a vital role in upholding the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and comfort throughout our community. Your responsibilities will include thorough cleaning of resident rooms, common areas, and specialized facilities, using appropriate equipment and eco-friendly products. Working closely with the Head Housekeeper, Resident Services Manager, and the wider care team, you will help create a safe, welcoming environment where residents feel respected, valued, and at home.

Key Responsibilities

Maintaining Cleanliness & Resident Spaces

  • Ensure all areas of the home, including toilets and communal spaces, are kept clean, hygienic, and tidy.
  • Clean resident bedrooms respectfully, maintaining choice, dignity, and consideration of personal belongings.
  • Safely operate and maintain cleaning equipment and materials, reporting any issues promptly.

Laundry Duties (when scheduled)

  • Support the effective and efficient running of the laundry service.
  • Wash, dry, and iron clothing and linens according to correct procedures.
  • Follow infection control requirements, using appropriate PPE and safe systems of work.
  • Ensure laundry is returned to residents clean, cared for, and correctly allocated.

Resident Interaction & Communication

  • Build warm, professional relationships with residents, understanding their preferences around housekeeping and laundry.
  • Maintain positive communication with colleagues, relatives, and visiting professionals.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training as required.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow The Old Rectory’s Health & Safety policies, Fire Procedures, and COSHH regulations.
  • Use chemicals safely and responsibly.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Uphold all company policies, regulatory standards, and infection control procedures.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who are:

  • Friendly, courteous, and resident-focused
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards
  • Respectful of confidentiality, personal property, and resident dignity
  • Willing to learn and attend required training
  • Experience in housekeeping or hospitality is advantageous but not essential—full training is provided

If you take pride in your work, enjoy making a meaningful difference, and want to be part of a supportive, values-driven team, we would love to hear from you.
