Housekeeping

Shannon Lodge Nursing Home is seeking a Housekeeper to join our team in Rooskey, Co Roscommon.

Following the recent extension of Shannon Lodge, we are looking for an additional team member to help maintain the high standards of cleanliness, comfort and presentation expected throughout the home.

This is an important role within the nursing home. Our housekeeping staff play a central part in ensuring that residents have a clean, comfortable and welcoming place to live, while also supporting the infection prevention and hygiene standards required within a residential care setting.

About the role

The successful candidate will work as part of the Shannon Lodge housekeeping team, carrying out routine cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout residents' bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas and other parts of the nursing home.

The position will suit someone who takes pride in their work, notices the small things and understands the importance of respecting residents' privacy and personal space.

While previous experience in a nursing home, healthcare, hotel or professional housekeeping environment would be an advantage, attitude, reliability and attention to detail are equally important.

Training will be provided where required.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Cleaning and maintaining residents' bedrooms and bathrooms to a high standard.
• Cleaning communal areas, corridors, dining areas and other parts of the nursing home.
• Ensuring rooms and shared spaces are clean, tidy, comfortable and appropriately presented.
• Following established cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Carrying out appropriate cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and high-touch areas.
• Following infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
• Using cleaning products, equipment and personal protective equipment correctly and safely.
• Ensuring cleaning materials and chemicals are appropriately stored.
• Reporting maintenance issues, damaged equipment or other concerns promptly.
• Respecting residents' belongings, privacy and dignity while working within their personal living space.
• Assisting with laundry and related housekeeping duties where required.
• Preparing rooms for new residents where necessary.
• Supporting additional cleaning requirements associated with outbreaks, infection control measures or special circumstances.
• Working closely with nursing, care, catering and other housekeeping staff.
• Helping to maintain the friendly, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere of Shannon Lodge.

The person we are looking for

• Flexible and willing to assist colleagues where required.
• Comfortable working in a busy residential environment.

Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience would be desirable, particularly within healthcare, residential care, hospitality or a similar environment.

Relevant training in infection prevention, manual handling and workplace safety would be an advantage, although appropriate training will be provided.

Employment will be subject to satisfactory references, Garda vetting and the normal requirements applicable to working within a residential care setting.

Shannon Lodge Nursing Home is an established nursing home in Rooskey, Co Roscommon, which has recently undergone a significant extension and now accommodates approximately 50 residents.
