Housekeeping Manager

About the role

As a Housekeeping Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest comfort throughout the hotel. You will lead and oversee the Housekeeping team to ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are consistently maintained in accordance with hotel standards and operational requirements. You will work closely with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience and efficient daily hotel operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and motivate the Housekeeping team to deliver consistent standards of cleanliness, service, and guest satisfaction.
• Oversee the daily operations of the Housekeeping department, including room cleaning, public areas, linen, uniforms, and back-of-house areas.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, presentation, and brand standards are consistently met.
• Coordinate closely with Front Office to ensure timely room readiness, prioritising early arrivals, VIPs, and special requests where required.
• Monitor room status and coordinate with Front Office and Engineering regarding room discrepancies, maintenance issues, and out-of-order rooms.
• Ensure all guest requests and housekeeping-related concerns are handled promptly, professionally, and effectively.
• Manage housekeeping schedules, staffing levels, daily assignments, and manpower deployment according to occupancy and operational requirements.
• Train, coach, and develop Housekeeping team members to maintain high standards of performance, grooming, service, and workplace conduct.
• Monitor departmental productivity, operational costs, and the effective utilisation of manpower and resources.
• Maintain appropriate stock levels and oversee the ordering, storage, and usage of housekeeping supplies, amenities, linen, uniforms, and operating equipment.

About you

• Minimum 2 years of relevant Housekeeping experience in a hotel environment, with supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations, room cleaning standards, public area maintenance, and departmental procedures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness, quality, and service excellence.
• Able to lead, motivate, coach, and develop a diverse team effectively.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple operational requirements.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Able to work closely with Front Office, Engineering, and other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or relevant hotel management systems.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and flexible hours as required.
