What they need

Join a small team where high standards genuinely matter.

Fox Hotels Group is an independent Plymouth hospitality business. Our main sites are Fox House Studios, which offers 41 self-contained studio apartments in the city centre, and Fox on the Hoe, our collection of luxury waterfront hotel apartments. The group also includes the Barbican apartments.

The opportunity

This is a hands-on management role with responsibility for housekeeping standards across our properties. You will lead and support the housekeeping team, organise and check the daily work, and make sure every apartment is clean, well presented and ready on time. Working closely with Hotel Management and the Duty Manager on shift, you will combine practical involvement with confident people management, sound organisation and consistent follow-through.

What you will do

  • Lead the day-to-day housekeeping operation across the group’s properties, prioritising departures, stayovers, deep cleans and urgent requirements.
  • Plan and allocate work effectively, ensuring that apartments are ready for guests on time.
  • Train, coach and support housekeeping staff, setting clear expectations, giving constructive feedback and helping to build a positive, dependable team.
  • Inspect apartments and shared areas regularly, identifying and resolving any shortfalls before they affect the guest experience.
  • Manage linen and laundry arrangements, maintaining the right levels of clean, good-quality stock and dealing promptly with shortages or quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate stock control for cleaning products, toiletries, guest amenities, consumables and equipment, notifying management when items need to be ordered so that purchasing and costs remain controlled.
  • Identify and report maintenance, damage, safety and lost-property issues, following them through so that action is completed.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and operational team on occupancy, arrivals, special requests and guest feedback.
  • Remain practically involved and step in to support cleaning and apartment turnarounds when required.
  • Undertake training on our diary-management system and provide occasional reception support when required.

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience in hotel, serviced-apartment or high-standard accommodation housekeeping, including supervisory or team-leading responsibility, is required. You must be confident taking ownership of the housekeeping operation.
  • No other work commitments that would restrict your availability; you must be able to work flexibly around the needs of the business.
  • An exacting eye for detail and genuine pride in creating clean, welcoming and consistently well-presented guest accommodation.
  • The ability to lead, motivate and develop people in a fair, approachable and dependable way.
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills, including confidence managing stock and coordinating work across several properties.
  • Clear communication and a collaborative approach, with the confidence to address performance or quality issues constructively.
  • Initiative, accountability and calm problem-solving when priorities change or something does not go to plan.
  • A sound understanding of safe working practices and the correct use and storage of cleaning products; COSHH knowledge would be helpful.
  • Basic computer and administration skills, with the confidence to maintain checklists, records and stock-control information.

A full driving licence is preferable.
