Housekeeping Manager

The hotel housekeeping manager oversees all daily sanitation, cleanliness, and operational standards of guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house facilities while leading the housekeeping and laundry teams.

Compensation:

$60,000 - $70,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

• Staff Leadership & Scheduling: Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, and manages room attendants, supervisors, and public area cleaners. Builds shift schedules based on hotel occupancy, events, and labor budgets.
• Quality Control & Inspections: Conducts regular room and facility audits to ensure adherence to brand and luxury hygiene standards.
• Inventory & Budget Management: Monitors and orders cleaning supplies, guest amenities, linens, and uniform stocks while tracking department expenses.
• Cross-Department Coordination: Coordinates daily with the Front Desk (for room readiness and VIP arrivals), Engineering/Maintenance (for broken fixtures), and Human Resources.
• Guest & Employee Relations: Resolves guest complaints regarding cleanliness or room readiness and fosters a positive workplace culture through open communication and recognition.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; a 2- or 4-year degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is often preferred.
• Experience: Typically 2 to 5 years of experience in housekeeping or rooms division operations, including 1 to 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Key Skills: Strong leadership, organization, time management, problem-solving, attention to detail, and working knowledge of hotel property management systems (PMS) and labor regulations.
