A role where your work helps create a home from home for children and families
Every family who walks through the doors of this children's hospice is going through an incredibly challenging journey. In those moments, the environment around them matters.
From spotless bedrooms and welcoming communal spaces to the small details that help families feel comfortable and cared for, our Housekeeping team plays a vital role in creating a warm, safe and homely environment for babies, children, young people and their families.
We're looking for an experienced Housekeeping Supervisor to lead our dedicated team, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort and presentation throughout the hospice.
This is more than a housekeeping role. It's an opportunity to be part of a compassionate organisation where every member of the team contributes to making a difference.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Lead, you'll oversee the day-to-day running of the Housekeeping function and lead a team of three staff members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising, supporting and motivating a team of 3 Housekeeping staff
- Creating and managing staff rotas
- Monitoring housekeeping standards across the hospice
- Ensuring all areas are maintained to exceptional levels of cleanliness and presentation
- Managing cleaning schedules and daily operations
- Maintaining housekeeping supplies, stock and equipment
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety, infection control and hygiene standards
- Supporting staff training and development
- Working closely with colleagues across departments to provide the best possible environment for children and families
This is a hands-on leadership role where no two days are the same.
Working Hour
- 37 hours per week
- Typically 8:00am to 4:00pm
- Flexibility around start and finish times can be considered
- 30-minute unpaid break
- Rota-based role operating across 7 days
- Includes some weekends and bank holidays
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who combines excellent housekeeping standards with strong leadership skills.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within housekeeping, cleaning or facilities environments
- Experience supervising or managing a team
- Confidence creating rotas and coordinating workloads
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of cleaning standards, health and safety, and infection control procedures
- Excellent communication and people skills
- A positive, proactive and supportive management style
Most importantly, you'll take pride in creating an environment where children and families feel cared for, comfortable and welcome.
