Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor

To supervise and coordinate daily housekeeping operations within the hospital, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, infection prevention, and environmental safety in compliance with hospital policies and healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily housekeeping activities across patient rooms, wards, ICUs, operating theatres, emergency departments, outpatient areas, corridors, and other hospital facilities.

• Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and sanitization of all designated areas in accordance with hospital infection prevention and control procedures.

• Monitor housekeeping staff performance, attendance, grooming, discipline, and adherence to assigned duty schedules.

• Prepare duty rosters, allocate work assignments, and ensure adequate manpower coverage across all shifts.

• Ensure the correct use of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Train housekeeping staff on hospital cleaning protocols, color-coding systems, hand hygiene, waste segregation, and infection control practices.

• Ensure proper segregation, collection, and disposal of general, infectious, and other healthcare waste according to hospital procedures and applicable regulations.

• Conduct regular inspections and cleaning audits to ensure compliance with hospital hygiene and quality standards.

• Coordinate with nursing staff, infection control teams, biomedical waste handlers, and Facilities Management teams to address housekeeping-related issues.

• Respond promptly to urgent cleaning requirements, spills, isolation-room cleaning requests, and other emergency situations, following approved safety procedures.

• Maintain cleaning checklists, inspection reports, chemical usage records, attendance records, and other housekeeping documentation.

• Monitor housekeeping consumables and equipment, maintain inventory records, and raise timely requests for replenishment.

• Investigate complaints, resolve service issues, and implement corrective actions to improve service quality.

• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and hospital infection prevention and control policies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of housekeeping experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.

• Previous experience supervising housekeeping teams in a hospital environment is essential.

• Knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfection procedures, infection prevention and control, and healthcare waste segregation.

• Familiarity with cleaning schedules, color-coding systems, PPE, and safe chemical handling.

• Knowledge of hospital quality and safety standards is an advantage.

• Basic computer skills and experience maintaining housekeeping reports and checklists.

• Good communication, leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
