Housing Coordinator
Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan – Saskatoon, SK
Full-Time | $29/hour
Application Deadline: Open until filled

About Us

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan (EFSK) supports women and gender-diverse people who are criminalized or at risk of criminalization. Through advocacy, cultural teachings, housing, and wraparound services, we work to remove systemic barriers and support healing, reintegration, and community connection.

Job Overview

We are hiring a full-time Housing Coordinator to join our Saskatoon team. Reporting directly to the Housing Manager, this position supports the daily operations of EFSK's housing programs, including transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, and our Regina sober living program.

The Housing Coordinator works closely with the Housing Manager to coordinate frontline staff, oversee resident intake and case management, and ensure safe, consistent, and culturally responsive service delivery across our housing programs.

This role provides day-to-day operational coordination and acts as a key point of contact for frontline staff. When the Housing Manager is unavailable, the Coordinator is responsible for addressing immediate operational needs, providing guidance to staff, arranging coverage, and making time-sensitive decisions within established organizational policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate is a compassionate, organized, and experienced professional with strong leadership skills, a commitment to culturally safe and trauma-informed care, and an understanding of the systemic barriers impacting women and gender-diverse people experiencing housing instability.

Key Responsibilities

Housing Operations & Staff Coordination

  • Support the Housing Manager in coordinating daily operations across EFSK housing programs.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, shift coverage, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels across housing sites.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, coaching, and training to frontline housing staff.
  • Monitor staff performance, identify concerns, and communicate performance-related matters to the Housing Manager for appropriate follow-up.
  • Reinforce organizational policies, procedures, and program expectations to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Address immediate operational concerns and make time-sensitive decisions within established policies when the Housing Manager is unavailable, escalating significant matters as required.

Resident Intake & Case Management

  • Conduct resident intake assessments, including SPDAT assessments, and coordinate housing waitlists and intake dates.
  • Oversee resident orientations and ensure individuals understand program expectations, available services, and housing responsibilities.
  • Ensure individualized healing plans are developed, regularly reviewed, and incorporated into ongoing case management.
  • Monitor resident progress and provide guidance to staff in responding to changing needs and circumstances.
  • Ensure accurate, confidential, and timely resident documentation and case management records.
  • Connect residents with employment, education, healthcare, legal services, cultural programming, and other community resources.

Crisis Intervention & Conflict Resolution

  • Provide guidance and direct assistance during crisis situations involving residents or housing staff.
  • Support conflict resolution and mediation between residents while promoting safe, respectful housing environments.
  • Develop and implement proactive strategies to prevent conflict and strengthen housing stability.
  • Respond to urgent operational or safety concerns and escalate significant incidents to the Housing Manager as appropriate.

On-Call & Emergency Response

  • Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Respond to urgent calls from housing staff regarding resident concerns, emergencies, staffing shortages, or operational issues.
  • Attend housing properties in person when situations require direct intervention or assessment.
  • Coordinate emergency staffing coverage and arrange shift replacements when necessary.
  • Make immediate operational decisions within established policies and procedures, communicating significant incidents and concerns to the Housing Manager.

Community Partnerships & Program Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with housing providers, community organizations, government agencies, and justice system partners.
  • Collaborate with corrections, probation, parole, income assistance, and other service providers to strengthen resident supports.
  • Represent EFSK at community meetings, workshops, and housing-related initiatives.
  • Assist with program development, implementation, and evaluation to strengthen housing services and improve outcomes.
  • Monitor program activities and identify opportunities to improve processes, service delivery, and resident experiences.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A combination of relevant education, training, lived experience, and professional experience in Social Work, Human Services, Housing, Community Development, or a related field. Formal post-secondary education is not mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in housing, social services, community-based programming, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and team coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of colonialism, systemic racism, intergenerational trauma, and the overrepresentation of Indigenous women in the criminal justice system.
  • Knowledge of culturally safe, trauma-informed, violence-informed, and person-centred approaches to service delivery.
  • Experience responding to crisis situations, resolving conflicts, and supporting individuals with complex needs.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage competing priorities.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required, and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.

Preferred:

  • Previous supervisory, team leadership, or staff coordination experience.
  • Experience working in supportive housing, transitional housing, or homelessness prevention programs.
  • Experience supporting women and gender-diverse individuals impacted by incarceration, addiction, or housing instability.
  • Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation, including improving processes and strengthening service delivery.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and community resources.
  • Familiarity with housing intake assessments, individualized healing plans, and case management practices.
