The Fair Housing Resource Center (FHRC) is seeking 5–10 dependable individuals to serve as Housing Investigators.

This is a unique opportunity to earn supplemental income, work around your existing schedule, and help ensure everyone has equal access to housing opportunities.

What Does a Housing Investigator Do?

Housing discrimination doesn't always look like a slammed door. Sometimes, it's hidden behind a friendly smile, a polite conversation, or different information provided to different people.

As a Housing Investigator, you'll act as an everyday home seeker to help identify potential housing discrimination. Similar to a secret shopper, you'll inquire about available housing and document your experience.

Assignments may include:

• Making phone calls to inquire about rental properties
• Visiting apartments, rental homes, or housing communities
• Interacting with leasing agents or property managers
• Documenting your experience through written reports
• Following specific instructions provided for each assignment

No previous investigative experience is necessary. We provide paid training!

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and email
• Ability to follow detailed instructions
• Strong observation and communication skills
• Ability to write clear, accurate summaries of interactions
• Dependable, professional, and detail-oriented
• Must pass background check

Employment & Compensation

Qualified individuals who successfully complete training will work as part-time, seasonal employees on a project-by-project basis.

Compensation varies depending on the type and requirements of each assignment. Assignments are offered based on project needs and investigator availability. Hours and assignments are not guaranteed.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 8.0 per week
