About Housing for New Hope
Housing for New Hope believes everyone deserves a place to call home—and the support to build a stable life. As Durham's leader in supportive housing, we are working toward Vision 2032, our long-term commitment to ensuring that homelessness in our community is rare, brief, and non-recurring.
We know that housing is the foundation, but housing alone is not enough. Through our Supportive Pathways framework, we partner with each participant to build lasting stability through housing, mental health and emotional wellness, substance use recovery supports, employment and job readiness, life skills development, and relationships and community belonging.
Our team helps make this vision a reality.
Role Purpose
The Housing Stability Coordinator is a key partner in advancing Housing for New Hope's Vision 2032. Working from a Housing First philosophy, this position helps participants move beyond obtaining housing toward achieving long-term stability by supporting progress across the Supportive Pathways that matter most to each individual.
This role combines relationship-building, advocacy, systems navigation, and coordinated support to help people thrive in permanent housing.

- Help participants obtain and maintain stable housing through home visits, advocacy, and problem-solving.
- Connect participants with community resources that support health, employment, recovery, and financial stability.
- Partner with landlords, service providers, and community organizations to strengthen housing success.
- Maintain accurate documentation and use data to measure progress.
- Work collaboratively with teammates while helping improve our programs and services.
Success in This Role Looks Like…
- Participants remain successfully housed.
- Participants make meaningful progress along the Supportive Pathways they identify as priorities.
- Strong relationships are built with landlords and community partners.
- Participants experience dignity, choice, and hope throughout their journey.

- Minimum of three years of experience providing case management or supportive services to vulnerable populations.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, serious mental illness, substance use disorders, or other complex life challenges is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Housing First, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, strength-based practice, and person-centered service delivery.
- Understanding mental health, substance use, crisis intervention, and community resource coordination.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality documentation and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams and community partners.
- Experience using electronic case management systems such as HMIS is preferred.
- Familiarity with Durham County resources and supportive services is preferred.
