HR & Payroll Manager

Owen Pharmacy Group is seeking an experienced and proactive HR & Payroll Manager to join our team and take ownership of the Group's human resources function, while also overseeing end-to-end payroll.

With eight pharmacy locations and 200 employees across South East Queensland, this is a varied and hands-on role supporting employees and managers across the full employment lifecycle.

The role has a strong HR focus, and we are looking for someone with solid practical HR experience who is confident providing advice to managers, managing employee relations matters and developing and implementing HR processes and policies.

About the role:

Working closely with the management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day HR function across the Group, as well as managing the end-to-end payroll process.

Human Resources

• Providing practical HR advice and support to Pharmacist Managers and Retail Managers across multiple locations
• Supporting managers with performance management, disciplinary matters and employee relations issues
• Managing employee grievances and workplace concerns in a professional and confidential manner
• Providing advice on employment conditions, workplace policies and relevant legislation
• Interpreting and applying the Pharmacy Industry Award and other relevant industrial instruments
• Developing, reviewing and implementing HR policies, procedures and processes
• Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records
• Assisting with workforce planning and recruitment across the Group
• Managing employment contracts, variations and other employee documentation
• Identifying opportunities to improve HR processes and the overall employee experience

Payroll

• Managing end-to-end fortnightly payroll for 200 employees across eight locations
• Ensuring payroll is accurate, timely and compliant
• Managing PAYG, superannuation, workers compensation and STP requirements
• Maintaining the Group's payroll and time & attendance systems
• Supporting managers with timesheet and payroll queries
• Monitoring wage costs and assisting with wage budget reporting
• Ensuring payroll processes and employee records are maintained accurately and confidentially

About you:

We are looking for an experienced HR and payroll professional who enjoys being hands-on and is comfortable taking ownership of a broad HR function. You will ideally have:

• Several years' experience in a HR role
• Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and workplace relations
• Demonstrated experience managing performance, conduct and disciplinary matters
• Confidence providing HR advice to managers
• Experience managing end-to-end payroll
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with employees and managers at all levels
• A high level of discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations
• A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach
