What they need
The Client
We’re looking for an HR Assistant to join an established Australian organisation based in Zillmere. This is a great opportunity for someone who already has some practical HR experience and is ready to take on a broader role supporting employees, managers and the People & Culture Manager.
You’ll be involved across recruitment, onboarding, HR administration, employee documentation, training, reporting and general employee support, giving you genuine exposure to the day-to-day workings of a busy People & Culture function.
The Role
Working closely with the People & Culture Manager, you’ll be responsible for:
- Maintaining employee records, personnel files and HR system information
- Preparing employment contracts, letters and HR documentation
- Coordinating employee changes including remuneration, hours and positions
- Supporting recruitment, advertising, interview coordination and reference checks
- Coordinating onboarding, probation reviews and offboarding
- Managing training bookings, records and training matrices
- Monitoring key employment, probation and compliance dates
- Assisting with employee engagement, wellbeing and culture initiatives
- Compiling HR information and reporting
- Supporting HR policies, procedures and compliance activities
- Assisting with employee relations and performance management administration
- Providing day-to-day HR support to employees and managers
- Providing operational HR support when the People & Culture Manager is unavailable, within your level of experience
About You
We’re looking for someone who has already started building their HR career and is ready for greater exposure and responsibility.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Previous HR administration or generalist HR support experience
- Qualifications or studies in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- A professional and discreet approach to confidential information
- An understanding of Australian employment practices and legislation
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and HR information systems
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Initiative and the ability to manage priorities and follow through on tasks
Experience within a small to medium-sized organisation would be particularly valuable.
The Opportunity
This is a genuinely varied HR role where you won’t be limited to one small part of the employee lifecycle. You’ll work closely with an experienced People & Culture Manager and gain exposure across recruitment, employee lifecycle activities, HR systems, training, compliance, reporting and broader People & Culture initiatives.
It’s an excellent next step for someone with a foundation in HR who wants to continue developing their generalist capability and take on more responsibility over time.
If you have practical HR experience and are looking for a role where you can continue developing your career, we’d love to hear from you.
Other offers great for you!
