What they need
Inshes Bookkeeping is a growing bookkeeping and accounts firm supporting small businesses across a range of sectors.
We are looking for an experienced Freelance HR Consultant to work alongside us, providing practical HR support to our clients.
This is a flexible freelance position of approximately 4–8 hours per week, with hours varying depending on client requirements. We're looking for someone who can become our trusted HR resource and plug into client work as and when required.
The role could be particularly suitable for an experienced HR professional looking for flexible consultancy work alongside other clients or commitments.
What you'll be doing
Typical work will include:
- Preparing and reviewing employment contracts
- Producing employee handbooks and HR policies
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee exits
- Advising clients on absence, holiday and performance management
- Providing guidance on disciplinary and grievance matters
- Supporting clients with day-to-day employee issues
- Advising on redundancy and organisational changes where required
- Helping small businesses establish straightforward HR processes
- Speaking directly with clients, managers and employees when required
- Keeping appropriate records of advice and work undertaken
Our clients are predominantly small businesses, so we're looking for someone who can provide practical and proportionate HR advice without unnecessarily complicated corporate processes.
About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Has strong practical HR experience
- Has a good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Is confident communicating with business owners, managers and employees
- Can deal professionally with confidential and sensitive matters
- Is comfortable working independently
- Can explain HR matters in straightforward language
- Understands the challenges faced by small employers
A CIPD qualification would be desirable, although significant practical HR experience will also be considered.
Experience working with SMEs or providing outsourced HR support would be particularly useful.
Hours & freelance arrangement
We anticipate approximately 4–8 hours per week, although hours will vary depending on client demand. There is potential for the amount of work to increase as we grow our HR offering.
We're looking to develop a long-term relationship with the right HR professional.
Inshes Bookkeeping will manage the overall client relationship, while you provide specialist HR support when required. This gives you the opportunity to undertake interesting HR consultancy work without having to source every client yourself.
To apply, please send us your CV together with a brief introduction outlining your HR experience, availability and expected hourly rate.
Pay: £15.00-£25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4.0 – 8.0 per week
