1. Understanding hiring needs

• Partner with hiring managers to define job requirements, must-have skills, and team fit
• Translate business needs into clear, compelling job descriptions

2. Sourcing candidates

• Post openings on job boards, LinkedIn, company career pages
• Proactively search for passive candidates (people not actively job-hunting)
• Build and maintain a talent pipeline for future roles
• Leverage referrals, networking events, and university partnerships

3. Screening and evaluating

• Review resumes and applications against role requirements
• Conduct initial phone/video screens to assess fit, motivation, and salary expectations
• Coordinate and sometimes conduct structured interviews
• Administer or coordinate skills assessments/tests when relevant

4. Managing the candidate experience

• Keep candidates informed throughout the process (a huge factor in employer reputation)
• Answer questions about the role, culture, and benefits
• Provide timely, respectful feedback including to rejected candidates

5. Coordinating the hiring process

• Schedule interviews across multiple stakeholders
• Collect and synthesize interviewer feedback
• Facilitate debrief/decision meetings with hiring teams

6. Offer and closing

• Determine compensation ranges (often with HR/comp teams)
• Extend offers and negotiate terms
• Handle offer acceptance, decline, and counter-offer conversations
