Job Summary
We are seeking a high-capacity, Bilingual (English/Spanish) HR Generalist & Learning Specialist to manage core human resources functions with a primary focus on training, employee development, and onboarding across our office and manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for driving team member development, designing and executing training programs, supporting recruitment and onboarding, maintaining compliance, and managing day-to-day HR operations. Working closely with HR leadership and department managers, you will serve as a key point of contact for employees and ensure seamless communication across our bilingual workforce.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Training & Employee Development (Core Focus):
- Design, implement, and track bilingual training programs for onboarding, safety, compliance (GMP, SQF), machine operations, soft skills, and management development.
- Work directly with department managers to identify skill gaps, create cross-training matrices, and build clear career development pathways for plant and office personnel.
- Conduct standard orientation and ongoing training sessions in both English and Spanish to ensure full comprehension and engagement across all shifts.
- Maintain precise training records, certifications, and compliance logs in accordance with regulatory, safety, and company audit standards.
- Bilingual Workforce Communications:
- Provide fluent English and Spanish verbal and written translation for all company communications, training materials, SOPs, policy updates, and HR meetings.
- Serve as a trusted, approachable resource for Spanish-speaking employees regarding benefits, workplace questions, and general HR inquiries.
- Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment logistics: screen candidate resumes, conduct bilingual phone screenings, post job listings, schedule interview rounds, and manage applicant tracking (e.g., monday.com).
- Facilitate a comprehensive, multi-day onboarding experience for new hires, ensuring all compliance forms, background checks, drug screenings, and safety trainings are completed on time.
- HR Generalist Operations & Employee Relations:
- Assist in managing routine employee relations matters, documenting discussions, and partnering with the HR Director to resolve workplace concerns constructively.
- Coordinate HR hand-offs across Operations, Quality, Finance, and Payroll to maintain accurate records for leaves of absence, job status changes, and offboarding.
- Maintain HR systems, job descriptions, organizational charts, and confidential personnel files in compliance with federal, state, and company retention rules.
- Reporting & HR Analytics:
- Track and report key HR and learning metrics (training completion rates, onboarding feedback, time-to-fill, turnover, and attendance records) to executive leadership.
- Culture & Engagement:
- Assist in organizing company-wide events, team-building activities, volunteer days, and recognition programs that reinforce core values and employee retention.
Key Competencies
- Bilingual Fluency: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish; ability to translate technical procedures, training content, and HR policies accurately.
- Instructional Design & Facilitation: Passion for teaching and developing others; skilled at leading engaging group trainings and creating clear, user-friendly instructional materials.
- Confidentiality & Integrity: Exceptional judgment when managing sensitive employee, medical, performance, and organizational data.
- Accountability & Follow-Through: Proactively manages assigned responsibilities, takes full ownership of outcomes, and meets deadlines without constant supervision.
- Sense of Urgency: Operates with speed and purpose to support fast-paced manufacturing schedules and talent needs.
- Interpersonal & Relationship Building: Ability to connect naturally with employees across all levels—from production line workers to executive managers.
- Software & Tech Fluency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), task boards (e.g., monday.com), and learning management or HRIS tools.
Qualifications and Experience
- 3–6+ years in a Human Resources Generalist, HR Coordinator, or Training & Development role (preferably within a manufacturing, CPG, food/beverage, or distribution environment).
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) required with demonstrated fluency in writing, reading, and speaking both languages in a professional setting.
- Proven experience creating, delivering, and tracking employee training and onboarding programs.
