Bring Your HR Expertise to the Field

At Verde, every team member plays a role in creating healthier spaces, stronger teams, and a better future. We believe great service starts with great people-and our Verde Vibes are built on teamwork, accountability, safety, sustainability, and doing the job right.

We're looking for an HR Manager to become a trusted HR partner for our operations across Indiana, Missouri, and Tennessee. This is a hands-on, visible role for an HR professional who enjoys being in the field, building relationships with frontline team members and managers, and solving problems the right way the first time.

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the HR Manager will independently support approximately 80–90 employees throughout the employee lifecycle-from hiring and onboarding to employee relations, leave, compliance, safety, engagement, and retention.

What You'll Do

People & Employee Relations

  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and site managers across a three-state territory.
  • Coach managers on performance, attendance, corrective action, and separations.
  • Conduct and support workplace investigations, document findings, and recommend appropriate next steps.
  • Build strong relationships with frontline employees and leaders while maintaining confidentiality, consistency, and sound judgment.

Hiring & Onboarding

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support staffing needs for custodial, supervisory, and site positions.
  • Coordinate new-hire paperwork, I-9 and E-Verify requirements, orientation, and first-90-day check-ins.
  • Partner with staffing agencies on temporary coverage and employee conversions.

Leave, Compliance & Risk

  • Manage FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other leave requests from intake through return to work.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims with Safety, Operations, and insurance partners.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state employment requirements across Indiana, Missouri, and Tennessee.
  • Ensure Verde policies and handbook updates are implemented consistently across sites.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready personnel and I-9 records.

Safety & Well-Being

At Verde, we are stewards of your mental and physical well-being.

  • Partner with Operations on incident reporting, OSHA recordkeeping, and safety training follow-up.
  • Support a safe and healthy work environment across all sites.
  • Reinforce proper PPE use and the safe handling of green cleaning products and equipment.

Payroll, Data & Engagement

  • Maintain accurate employee information in ADP.
  • Partner with Payroll on timekeeping, employee changes, and corrections.
  • Track turnover and conduct exit interviews to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Bring Verde Vibes to life through recognition, engagement, and employee-focused initiatives.
  • Share meaningful HR insights and recommendations with leadership.

What You Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, including 2+ years at a senior or manager level.
  • Experience supporting an hourly, frontline workforce across multiple locations.
  • Working knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, OSHA, and multi-state employment compliance.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and documenting outcomes.
  • HRIS experience; ADP preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 25%.

Preferred:

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Experience in contract services, facilities, janitorial, hospitality, logistics, manufacturing, or a similar environment.
  • Experience working in client-site environments.

The Verde Vibe

The right HR Manager is more than someone who knows HR policies-they're someone people trust.

You are:

  • Independent and organized, with strong follow-through and sound judgment.
  • Approachable and trusted by frontline employees and managers.
  • A clear, calm communicator who can navigate challenging conversations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Comfortable getting out from behind the desk and being where our people are.
  • Passionate about creating a workplace where employees feel supported, respected, safe, and connected.

Work Environment

This role is based in the Lebanon, Indiana area and supports client sites throughout Indiana, Missouri, and Tennessee.

  • Up to 25% travel, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend availability may be required to support employees working different shifts.
  • Client sites may require safety orientations, background checks, and PPE.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and move throughout facility environments.
  • Reasonable accommodations are available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $80,000–$90,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications (proposed, pending approval)

Benefits: Verde benefits package (details to be provided)
