What they need
HR Officer (PALM Program Support)
Hillwood Berries – Tasmania
Hillwood Berries is a proudly Tasmanian, family‑owned business, specialising in premium berry production.
We are seeking an organised, detail‑driven HR Officer to join our team and play a key role in supporting our workforce—particularly through the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) seasonal worker program.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys HR administration processing.
About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing complex documentation, coordinating approvals, and ensuring compliance with government requirements.
- Providing HR administration support for seasonal workers and our permanent workforce
- Coordinating PALM seasonal worker intakes including visa and travel requirements
- Support the management of information and reporting requirements for the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations
- Maintaining accurate employee records
- Liaising with external stakeholders, including government departments and service providers
- Supporting payroll, onboarding, and inductions
- Ensuring confidential information is handled appropriately and accurately
About You
You’ll be highly organised, calm under pressure, and comfortable managing multiple processes and deadlines. You enjoy working behind the scenes to make things happen smoothly.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in HR administration, compliance, or a similar role
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Confidence working with systems, records, and government documentation
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A positive, practical approach and willingness to learn
- Experience with the PALM program or visas is desirable, but not essential
Why Join Hillwood Berries?
This is more than an administrative role—it’s an opportunity to contribute to something meaningful. Through the PALM program, you’ll play a part in helping seasonal workers build skills, earn income, and support their families and communities at home. Your work directly supports people creating better futures for themselves and their loved ones. While the role has an administrative focus there are many opportunities to engage directly with our seasonal workers to see the benefits their work provides.
In return, we offer:
- A supportive and friendly team environment
- A role with purpose and real social impact
- Exposure to a unique and rewarding HR specialty
- Stability within a respected Tasmanian agricultural business
If you’re passionate about good administration, strong processes, and making a positive difference through your work, we’d love to hear from you.
The position would be suitable to two part-time job share arrangements. The position may be filled before the closing date, so early applications are encouraged.
Other offers great for you!
