This role requires a self-starter who is comfortable working independently, maintaining a strong field presence, communicating effectively with all levels of the organization, and travelling between project sites as operational needs require.

The ideal candidate understands that effective HSE support is built through field engagement, coaching, observation, communication, and collaboration with the workforce and supervision.

  • Support workers and supervision in exercising Stop Work authority when unsafe conditions or activities are identified.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, inspection documentation, training records, and safety statistics.
  • Support emergency preparedness, emergency response planning, drills, and site-specific requirements.
  • Assist with training and competency verification where required.
  • Support company and client HSE programs, initiatives, inspections, and audits.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, workers, subcontractors, clients, and management to continuously improve safety performance.
  • Maintain regular communication with HSE management regarding site activities, concerns, trends, incidents, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Travel regularly between project sites throughout Alberta as operational requirements dictate.

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation – required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation and industry safety practices.
  • Demonstrated experience completing field inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and safety documentation.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Alberta.
  • Ability and willingness to access active industrial and construction worksites, including working around equipment, scaffolding, and work-at-height activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervision, management, clients, and subcontractors.
