HSE Supervisor

Job Title:HSE Supervisor Job Code:IVC_028 Department & Section:QHSE Job Purpose To implement and monitor health, safety, and environmental practices on-site, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a safe working environment throughout the construction project. Key Accountabilities/ Responsibilities Job Duties and Key Responsibility Areas

• Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
• Monitor and enforce the use of PPE to protect workers and reduce risk of injury.
• Investigate incidents and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver HSE inductions and toolbox talks to educate workers on safety protocols and responsibilities.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and training to support audits and reporting.
• Support emergency preparedness drills to ensure readiness and effective response.
• Liaise with contractors and site teams to align HSE practices with project requirements.
• Track and report HSE performance indicators to inform management and drive improvements.
• Ensure proper signage and safety communication is displayed across the site to raise awareness.
• Assist in implementing environmental controls to minimize impact and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review method statements and risk assessments to verify adequacy and relevance.
• Promote a culture of safety by encouraging proactive reporting and continuous improvement.
• Ensures adherence to quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements in Food Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environment.

• Based on-site with exposure to active construction zones and outdoor conditions
• Work is performed under tight deadlines and may involve extended hours during incidents or audits
• Requires frequent movement across site areas and coordination with multilingual teams
• May involve interaction with local authorities and emergency response units

Minimum Qualifications/ Education/ Experience/ Training/ Knowledge Education & Professional Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
• Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE qualification is preferred

Work Experience

• Minimum 5 years to of experience in HSE roles, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Strong understanding of HSE regulations and risk management practices
• Proficiency in incident investigation and reporting tools
• Ability to deliver training and communicate safety procedures effectively
• Familiarity with environmental monitoring and control measures
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Fluency in English and French is highly desirable
