About the Company & Project

Talesca is partnering with a leading EPC contractor delivering the Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP) package on a major wind farm project in Queensland.

The EBoP scope includes the design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of major electrical infrastructure, including:

• High-voltage substations, switchyards and transmission line infrastructure.
• Underground electrical reticulation and wind turbine electrical interfaces.
• Protection, control, SCADA and communications systems.
• Grid connection, network interfaces and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Testing, commissioning and energisation.

The project involves multiple contractors, OEMs and overlapping work areas, making stakeholder coordination and clear responsibilities essential. The HSEQ Manager will join the senior project leadership team, helping establish the project for construction and leading the HSE function through delivery.

About the Role

Working closely with the Project Director, Project Managers and General Manager HSEQ, you will take ownership of the project’s health, safety and environmental management function.

A key part of this position is managing the relationship with the client and other principal contractors. You will represent the business in meetings, work through project requirements and resolve competing expectations, with the confidence to challenge requests professionally when needed.

Initially based in Brisbane, you will tailor existing systems and management plans for the project, support mobilisation and build the advisory team before transitioning to a site roster.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the HSE interface with the client and other principal contractors, building relationships and resolving issues.
• Build, lead and mentor the HSE advisory team across multiple construction work fronts.
• Adapt existing management systems, plans and procedures to meet project, contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Lead client reporting, audit responses and incident escalations, including engagement with regulators and unions.
• Coordinate contractor responsibilities, work-area handovers and environmental requirements, working with the project leadership team to support safe delivery.

About You

We’re looking for an established HSE leader with experience taking ownership of the safety function on major construction or infrastructure projects.

You will bring:

• Proven experience managing client relationships, leading meetings and working through difficult stakeholder issues.
• Experience building and managing HSE teams across complex construction projects.
• A strong understanding of principal contractor responsibilities and contractual HSE requirements.
• Experience managing reporting, audits, regulator engagement and incident investigations.
• A practical and collaborative approach, with the confidence to make decisions and challenge requirements while maintaining positive relationships.

Electrical infrastructure, networks, transmission, substations, renewables, mining construction or relevant civil infrastructure experience will be highly regarded. Renewable energy experience is beneficial but not essential.

Quality experience will also be valued, with the primary focus on HSE leadership, client management and supporting project delivery.
