Hub Manager - Butterworth Penang

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Hub Operations Management
   Take overall responsibility for the daily operations and on-site management of the BTW Hub, including inbound receiving, unloading, sorting, transfer, loading and outbound dispatch. Ensure safe, efficient and smooth hub operations.
2. Operations Quality & Timeliness Management
   Monitor key operational KPIs including delivery timeliness, inbound and outbound processing timeliness, sorting accuracy, exception parcels, parcel loss/damage, customer complaints and claims. Analyse root causes and drive continuous improvement to achieve operational targets.
3. On-Site & Shift Management
   Plan and allocate manpower, work shifts, vehicles, facilities and equipment according to business volume. Standardize operational processes and working procedures to improve productivity, operational efficiency and space utilization.
4. Cost & Budget Management
   Manage manpower, transportation, facility, equipment and other operational costs. Continuously optimize resource allocation, drive cost reduction and efficiency improvement, and take responsibility for budget utilization and overall operational performance.
5. People & Team Management
   Lead the hub operations team, including workforce planning, task allocation, training, coaching, performance management and talent development. Effectively manage the deployment of permanent employees, outsourced workers and temporary workers to maintain team productivity and stability.
6. Transportation & Network Coordination
   Coordinate line-haul and feeder vehicle arrangements, and work closely with Regional Network Management, franchise outlets, transportation partners, Customer Service and Head Office Operations to ensure timely parcel transfers and smooth handover to last-mile operations.
7. Exception & Emergency Management
   Respond promptly to operational disruptions such as sudden increases in parcel volume, vehicle delays, equipment breakdowns, parcel backlogs, major customer complaints and safety incidents. Develop contingency plans and ensure issues are resolved and properly closed.
8. Safety & Compliance Management
   Ensure compliance with safety requirements covering fire safety, equipment, vehicles, employees and parcels. Conduct regular safety training and inspections to ensure hub operations comply with company policies and applicable laws and regulations in Malaysia.
9. Data Analysis & Reporting
   Regularly review and analyse hub performance, including parcel volume, operational quality, productivity, manpower efficiency, costs and safety performance. Prepare operational reports, develop improvement plans and provide regular progress updates to management.

Requirements

1. Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
2. At least 5 years of experience in logistics, courier, express delivery, transportation or warehouse/sortation operations, with at least 2 years of experience managing a hub, sortation centre, transit centre or logistics operations team.
3. Strong knowledge of end-to-end hub and sortation operations, on-site processes, vehicle coordination and workforce scheduling, with strong hands-on operational management capabilities.
4. Strong data analysis and cost management skills, with the ability to identify operational issues through data and drive continuous improvement.
5. Strong leadership, cross-functional communication, resource coordination and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle operational emergencies effectively.
6. Strong sense of responsibility, resilience, execution capability and results-oriented mindset. Willing to work on rotating shifts and support peak-period operational requirements when necessary.
7. Good knowledge of the Malaysian logistics industry and local employment environment. Experience managing outsourced workers or foreign workers will be an advantage.
8. Good command of English. Ability to communicate in Chinese and/or Bahasa Malaysia for work purposes will be an advantage.
