Human Resource Internship

About the role

PY KONSEP PERUNDING SDN BHD is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Human Resource Intern to join our team in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is a contract position that offers an exceptional opportunity to gain practical experience in human resources within the construction industry. As an HR Intern, you will support our HR department in delivering essential people management functions whilst working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. This role is based on-site in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and will provide you with valuable insights into HR operations, recruitment, employee engagement and organisational development within a growing construction consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting with recruitment activities, including posting job advertisements, screening resumes, scheduling interviews and maintaining recruitment records
• Supporting the onboarding process for new employees, including preparing documentation, coordinating orientation sessions and ensuring compliance with company policies
• Maintaining and updating employee records and databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of personnel information
• Assisting with the administration of employee benefits programmes, payroll coordination and statutory compliance documentation
• Supporting the organisation and coordination of HR-related events, training sessions and employee engagement activities
• Providing general administrative support to the HR team, including correspondence, scheduling and filing
• Assisting with the development and distribution of HR policies, procedures and communication materials
• Supporting the management of employee relations matters, including leave applications and performance documentation

What we're looking for

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or a related field
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Malay; additional languages are advantageous
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• A keen interest in human resources and employee relations
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and follow instructions effectively
• Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work
• Willingness to learn and adaptability in a fast-paced construction industry environment
• Prior experience in HR, recruitment or administrative roles is preferred but not essential
