Job Opportunity: Human Resources Assistant

The City of Nacogdoches is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Human Resources Assistant to support our HR Department. In this key role, you will assist with timekeeping and payroll processing, departmental recordkeeping and providing excellent administrative support and customer service to employees and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

Verify attendance, calculate hours, process pay adjustments and reconcile payroll discrepancies.

Maintain and update employee records, leave balances, exemptions and personnel files.

Prepare periodic reports, standard correspondence and gather data for departmental special projects.

Deliver exceptional customer service to internal staff, community members and visitors.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED with at least two (2) years of prior payroll experience (municipal experience preferred).
• Strong mathematical abilities, high attention to detail and knowledge of relevant payroll laws and regulations.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
