We’re seeking an experienced HR Director to lead human resources at a fast-paced, unionized acute care hospital in Los Angeles. This is a visible, hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on solving complex workforce challenges and building stronger teams.

You’ll serve as a key partner to executive leadership, with the opportunity to strengthen retention, improve employee relations, and help leaders navigate a demanding healthcare environment.

What You’ll Lead

• Employee relations: Manage complex investigations, sensitive personnel matters, conflict resolution, and performance management with sound judgment and consistent follow-through.
• Labor relations: Build productive union relationships, navigate grievances, and guide collective bargaining agreement interpretation and administration.
• Executive partnership: Advise the C-suite on workforce decisions, coach leaders, and confidently address difficult issues.
• Retention and engagement: Identify what’s driving turnover and implement practical improvements that support employees and strengthen workforce stability.
• Regulatory readiness: Lead HR-related preparation for Joint Commission surveys and CMS reviews, maintaining strong documentation, processes, and accountability.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven HR leadership experience in an acute care hospital .
• Union experience is required , with substantial employee and labor relations expertise.
• Demonstrated success supporting Joint Commission and CMS compliance and survey readiness , with a thorough understanding of HR-related requirements.
• The credibility and confidence to influence senior executives while building trust with frontline staff.
• A hands-on approach, composure under pressure, and a track record of navigating complex hospital workforce challenges.
