We are looking for a hands-on, bilingual HR Generalist to run day-to-day HR for our office and field teams in Brownsville. This person will be the go-to resource for onboarding, time records, employee questions, and keeping personnel files and policies in order. It's a practical, people-focused role for someone who likes structure and is comfortable working with both office staff and field crews.
Reporting:
This role reports to two leaders: our Office/Administration lead for QuickBooks, payroll, onboarding, and HR administration, and our Operations lead for workforce planning and the needs of employees in the field.
Key Responsibilities

- Collect, review, and reconcile daily time records for office and field employees, and enter them accurately in QuickBooks for payroll.
- Answer employee questions about pay, time off, benefits, and company policies, in English and Spanish.
- Keep employee files organized, confidential, and up to date.
- Track PTO balances and requests under company policy.
- Coordinate drug testing under company policy, including pre-employment, reasonable-suspicion, and post-accident testing.
- Support hiring by posting jobs, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and running background checks.
- Help roll out and maintain the employee handbook and company policies.
- Track required postings, training records, and other compliance items.
- Handle offboarding tasks, including final pay coordination, equipment return, and file closeout.
- Escalate employee relations concerns to management and help document them.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required), spoken and written.
- 2 or more years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist or HR coordinator role.

- Experience with QuickBooks, or with entering time and payroll in a similar system.
- Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
- Clear, respectful communication with office staff and field crews alike.
- Able to work onsite in Brownsville five days a week, with occasional after-hours availability.
Preferred
- Experience in construction or another field-based industry.
