Position Title: Human Resources Generalist (Part-Time)

Reports to: Urban Pathways School Board

Job Overview

Urban Pathways 6–12 Charter School is seeking an organized, approachable, and dependable Human Resources Coordinator to support our employees and school leadership. This part-time, on-site position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working directly with people, improving processes, and helping a school operate effectively.

Schedule

• Three days per week on-site
• Approximately 20– 30 hours per week
• Specific days and hours to be determined
• This is not a remote position, commuter benefits are available

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate employee onboarding, orientation, and separation processes
• Maintain confidential personnel files and required employment records
• Track employee clearances, certifications, mandated training, and other compliance requirements
• Assist with recruitment, job postings, candidate communication, interviews, reference checks, and employment documentation
• Support benefits enrollment, employee changes, renewals, and communication with benefit providers
• Coordinate employee information and payroll changes with the school’s payroll provider
• Respond to routine employee questions regarding benefits, policies, leave, payroll, and workplace procedures
• Assist with attendance, leave, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and employee relations matters
• Help update job descriptions, employee handbooks, HR forms, and internal procedures
• Prepare HR reports and maintain accurate employee data
• Support school leadership with performance management, documentation, and other HR needs
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism

Qualifications

• Required: Previous experience in HR, employee administration, benefits, payroll, or a related area.
• Computer literacy, strong excel skills and proficient with Microsoft Forms
• Show professionalism working on highly sensitive information daily
• Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in a school, nonprofit organization, or public-sector environment is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
• SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus but not required

Required Clearances

The selected candidate must obtain or provide current Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History, Child Abuse History, and FBI fingerprint clearances before beginning employment.

Pay: $20.00 - $32.00 per hour
