What they need
Company Overview
McCathern, PLLC is an award-winning Dallas-based law firm dedicated to delivering the highest quality legal representation across various practice areas. With offices in Dallas, Houston, and Los Angeles, and a network of contract attorneys and Of Counsel professionals nationwide, we are committed to serving our diverse client base with excellence and integrity.
Human Resources GeneralistLove HR, people, problem-solving—and a workday that is never exactly the same?
We’re looking for an experienced, organized, and people-focused Human Resources Generalist to join our growing law firm.
This is not a role where you’ll spend your entire day doing one thing. One minute you may be helping a new employee through onboarding, the next you’re answering a benefits question, coordinating an interview, reviewing timekeeping, helping with a performance review, or figuring out an HR issue that just landed on your desk.
If you like variety, enjoy helping people, and are the type of person who sees something that needs to be done and takes ownership of it, we want to meet you.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll get exposure to just about every part of HR, including:
- Recruiting and coordinating interviews
- New-hire onboarding and orientation
- Background checks and pre-employment requirements
- Benefits enrollment and employee benefits questions
- 401(k), medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and HSA administration
- Payroll and timekeeping support
- Employee changes, promotions, compensation updates, and terminations
- HRIS and employee record maintenance
- Performance review administration
- Employee relations support
- Leave and accommodation administration
- Employment verifications and unemployment claims
- HR compliance and required documentation
- Law clerk and internship program coordination
- Employee engagement and Firm events
- HR reporting, spreadsheets, and workforce data
- Policies, procedures, job descriptions, and employee communications
And, because this is HR, there will always be something we didn't put on this list.
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to meet someone who:
- Has 3–5 years of Human Resources experience
- Has worked across several areas of HR—not just one specialty
- Is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities
- Has strong organizational skills and an eye for detail
- Can juggle multiple priorities without losing track of deadlines
- Knows when to solve an issue independently and when to escalate it
- Communicates professionally and genuinely enjoys working with people
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and good judgment in HR
- Has working knowledge of federal and state employment laws
- Is comfortable working with HR systems, reports, and spreadsheets
- Has experience with ADP Workforce Now or a similar HRIS/payroll platform
Law firm or professional-services experience is a plus, but great HR experience matters more to us.
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Other offers great for you!
