HR Generalist

JOB SUMMARY

Edison House is seeking an organized, detail-oriented HR Generalist to manage the day-to-day HR function for our team of approximately 80 employees. This role has one direct report (HR Admin). Help create a smooth, positive, and well-organized employee HR experience from onboarding through offboarding.

We are looking for someone who enjoys building and managing processes, loves working with and helping our employees, and makes HR easy for both employees and managers.

This is a hands-on role focused on excellent administration and execution, with opportunities to help build a strong team culture.

Responsibilities

HR Operations & Administration (80%)

• HR Administration: Maintain accurate employee records, manage the HR calendar, and oversee day-to-day HR processes. Maintain policies, ensure compliance with employment laws, and keep required documentation and training current. Partner with Finance on payroll accuracy, employee changes, benefits administration, and issue resolution.
• Employee Lifecycle: Oversee onboarding, employee records, status changes, and offboarding to ensure a smooth experience.
• Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee HR questions, including benefits, time off, policies, and payroll. Help employees navigate conflict or other workplace scenarios.
• Recruiting Coordination: Manage job postings, candidate tracking, interviews, offers, and onboarding. Department managers own hiring decisions.
• Process Improvement: Build, document, and improve HR systems and workflows to make the employee experience more efficient and consistent.

Culture & Employee Development (20%)

• Team Culture: Help plan employee events, team-building activities, and recognition programs.
• Employee Engagement: Gather employee feedback, monitor morale, and help create a positive workplace.

Who we are looking for:

Our ideal candidate must demonstrate the following qualities:

• Prior experience in HR administration, HR coordination, or an HR Generalist role.
• Exceptional organization skills and excellent at building and executing processes.
• Service mindset. You are approachable, responsive, and truly enjoy helping employees.
• Strong comfort using HR software and administrative systems. We are tech forward and hope to continue deepening our use of HR technology.

§ 4+ years experience in Human Resources, hospitality a plus.

§ In depth knowledge of HR policies and any HR-related legal requirements

What Success Looks Like

· Employees receive fast, helpful, and accurate answers to HR questions. Eventually, the majority of questions are answered through thoughtful onboarding and excellent self-service resources.

· New hires have a smooth onboarding experience and are ready for their first day.

· Payroll, benefits, employee records, and compliance tasks are accurate and completed on time.

· Day to Day administration of HR is excellently managed and it is clear who does what, and who is responsible for what.

· Managers have reliable support with hiring and employee relations.

· HR systems are organized, documented, and easy to use.

· Employees feel supported, connected, and excited to be part of Edison House.
