What they need

HRIS & Benefits Administrator

Location: New York, NY or Atlanta, GA

Salary: $85,000–$100,000 USD

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a regulated financial technology company to find an HRIS & Benefits Administrator to join its People team.

This is a hands-on role combining HR systems administration, employee benefits, compliance, and payroll coordination. You will help maintain accurate employee data, oversee day-to-day benefits processes, support U.S. compliance requirements, and act as the primary U.S. contact for an outsourced payroll provider.

Reporting directly to the Global Head of People, you will play an important role in ensuring reliable, accurate, and efficient People operations across the business.

Key Responsibilities

HRIS & Employee Data

  • Administer the company's HRIS, maintaining accurate employee records, managing workflows, and supporting system updates and integrations.
  • Produce regular and ad hoc reports covering headcount, compensation, benefits, and payroll.

Benefits Administration

  • Manage health and welfare benefits, 401(k), open enrollment, qualifying life events, and coordination with benefits providers and brokers.
  • Track leaves of absence, administer COBRA processes, and reconcile monthly benefits invoices.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Support compliance with applicable U.S. federal, state, and local employment and benefits requirements, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, and FMLA.
  • Maintain employee records, support audits and regulatory filings, and assist with annual benefits and compliance reporting.

Payroll Coordination & Backup

  • Serve as the primary U.S. point of contact for the outsourced payroll provider, coordinating payroll inputs, reviewing payroll registers, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Validate information relating to new hires, terminations, bonuses, commissions, equity-related income, and payroll adjustments.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll reconciliation and serve as the trained backup for payroll processing, off-cycle payments, corrections, garnishments, and year-end activities when needed.

Employee Support & Process Improvement

  • Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, benefits, and HR systems with discretion and professionalism.
  • Document procedures, strengthen internal controls, protect confidential employee data, and identify opportunities to improve and streamline processes.

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in HRIS administration and employee benefits.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. multi-state payroll, including reviewing payroll registers and providing payroll backup when required.
  • Familiarity with U.S. employment, payroll, and benefits compliance, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, and FMLA.
  • Experience administering an HRIS or payroll platform. Rippling and/or Deel experience is an advantage.
  • Strong Excel skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong written communication, organization, and follow-through, with the ability to coordinate with external providers across time zones.
  • Ability to take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities and work independently.
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.

Additional advantages: Experience managing outsourced payroll providers, supporting equity compensation through payroll, reconciling payroll to the general ledger, or implementing and optimizing HR systems. Payroll or benefits certifications, such as CPP, FPC, or CEBS, are also welcome.

Interested?

If you have experience across HR systems, benefits administration, and payroll coordination and are looking for a hands-on opportunity within a growing financial technology business, we'd love to hear from you.
