Human Resources Manager

About the role

You will be our dedicated HR lead, responsible for building the HR framework from the ground up and running day-to-day HR operations. This is a hands-on role reporting directly to Management.

Key responsibilities

• Review and rewrite job descriptions and job scopes for all positions, with clear reporting lines and accountabilities
• Develop and implement KPIs for every role, aligned with company and departmental objectives
• Draft, roll out and enforce the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct, including an Anti-Bribery and Corruption policy in line with Section 17A of the MACC Act 2009
• Maintain all HR policies in compliance with the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and Personal Data Protection Act 2010
• Select, set up and manage an HR Management System (HRMS) covering employee records, leave, attendance and claims
• Run monthly payroll accurately and on time, including EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB/MTD and HRD Corp levy submissions
• Create and maintain a complete personnel file for every employee (contracts, qualifications, certifications, disciplinary records, appraisals)
• Coordinate annual one-on-one performance reviews between employees and Management, including documentation and follow-up action plans
• Track expiry and renewal of staff certifications and licences relevant to shipping operations
• Manage end-to-end recruitment, onboarding and offboarding

About you

• Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of HR generalist experience, with hands-on payroll and statutory submissions
• Strong working knowledge of Malaysian employment law and statutory requirements
• Proven experience setting up or implementing HR systems, policies and KPI frameworks
• Experience in shipping, maritime, logistics or port-related industries is a strong advantage, but not mandatory
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia, written and spoken
• High integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
• Able to work independently and build processes from scratch
