Human Resources Specialist

About the Role

The HR Specialist is one of two dedicated onsite HR generalists, responsible for HR support across a dedicated portfolio. This role really does cover it all, allowing you to hone your HR skills across a broad spectrum of areas, all whilst forming strong and trusted relationships with your portfolio managers.

Specific duties include:

• Provide end-to-end recruitment support across your allocated portfolio
• Coach and support managers on employment and industrial relation matters
• Partner with unions and provide administrative support and advice on employee matters
• Coordinate and support wellness initiatives and employment benefits
• Ensure Mercy's HRIS and HR SharePoint pages remains up to date, easy to use and fit for purpose
• Coordinate Mercy's annual performance review and salary review cycles
• Provide HR administration support across your portfolio, and provide cover for second HR Specialist as required
• Proactively implement process and legislative updates
• Work on HR projects as required

Skills and Experience

• A formal business, HR, low or psychology tertiary qualification or extensive HR experience in required
• Previous work experience in an HR role
• Sound knowledge of NZ employment legislation including the Employment Relations Act and Holidays Act
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to think critically with an excellent sense of judgement and good problem-solving skills
• A discrete and confidential approach which is both kind and respectful
