We are seeking a passionate and experienced Humanities Teacher to join our vibrant secondary school during Semester 1, 2027 (22 January to mid-June 2027). While this position is ideally full-time, flexibility may exist for a part-time arrangement for an appropriately experienced candidate.

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students through a diverse Humanities teaching load across both middle and senior year levels (Years 7-10). As the successful candidate will also teach a Year 12 VCE History: Revolutions class, focusing on the French and Russian Revolutions, demonstrated experience and success teaching this VCE subject is essential.

The successful candidate will inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and thoughtful discussion, fostering students' understanding of historical events, and their relevance in the contemporary world.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • VIT registration;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications;
  • Current and broad knowledge of curriculum and effective pedagogy in their subject area, and which aligns with the Australian curriculum;
  • Current knowledge of educational trends and schooling practices as they pertain to the role; and
  • Current knowledge of learning technologies in relation to the role and the delivery of the curriculum.

Fintona teachers seek out and implement new ideas and practices to enliven our students’ learning journey, provide meaningful pastoral care, are integral to student wellbeing and safety, and embed themselves in the ethos and life of the School. This includes attending school wide events, excursions, and engaging in our camps (outdoor and adventure) program.

Employment Benefits

In addition to working in a highly professional and collegiate environment, the successful applicant can receive:

  • Generous employment entitlements under our Enterprise Agreement;
  • Access to confidential wellbeing and support services;
  • The opportunity to teach curious and motivated students;
  • Extensive learning and development opportunities to support career development; and
  • Regular opportunities to connect through a vibrant and active social club.

Application Information

Further information on this exciting opportunity can be obtained from the Position Description or by contacting Human Resources on 9830 1388. Applications are to include a one page cover letter addressed to the Principal and a CV that includes three professional referees. Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

Applications close 24 August 2026. Please note: the interview process may commence prior to the closing date and, if a suitable applicant is found, the role may close early. We would encourage applications to be received as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Fintona Girls’ School is committed to the safety, wellbeing, participation and empowerment of children. Staff are required to adhere to the School’s Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy, Child Safety Response and Mandatory Reporting Policy and Procedure and Child Safety Code of Conduct and be committed to the safety and wellbeing of children.
