The role

Key Duties

• You will support the development of our HV Basis of Design templates (AIS, GIS,) based on varying voltage and MW load increments.
• Support HV/MV Substation electrical Concept and Masterplan design delivery (RIBA Stage 1).
• Carry out design Review for HV plant designs, including layouts, earthing, interlocking, busbar calculation, ancillary equipment, P&C schematics and technical specifications.
• Support tendering and technical proposal preparation.
• Support technical review of HV GIS/AIS, HV Power Transformers, MV Switchgear, Substation Automation Systems (IEC61850).
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance & Standards: Ensure EN IEC 61936-1 design adherence to international and local standards, local regulations, and industry standards during design and construction.
• Construction & Design quality inspection : Perform compliance checks of HV Substation during , construction, commissioning and operational phases to ensure adherence to APTO Basis of Design, regulatory and internal standards.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth approval and project execution.
• Consultant & Contractor Coordination: In conjunction with Senior HV personnel, CSA and permitting colleagues, coordinate HV responsibilities across consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure high standards in design and construction implementation.
• Ensure all project RFI are responded in a timely way.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in Electrical design and construction, with a focus on large-scale Power infrastructure projects such as substations.
• Basic Knowledge of power systems studies, protection relays and protections schemes.
• Knowledge of 110/125/132/225/220/380kV Air Insulated and Gas Insulated Switchgear (AIS a& GIS).
• Basic knowledge of High Voltage : Medium Voltage Power Transformers, Medium voltage electrical switchgear, grounding and earthing.
• Clear competence in HV design principles and regulations, including experience with HV designs for complex substations.
• A basic understanding of Data Centre critical electrical systems is a bonus.
• A basic understanding of Data Centre mechanical cooling and PUE (power Usage Effectiveness) as it pertains to substation sizing is a bonus.
• Experience in creating and reviewing design documents for HV Substations.
• Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to drive projects forward.
• Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD and basic level Revit/Navisworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience delivering HV Substations across with both DSOs and TSOs across Europe.
• Proficient with ETAP, CDEGS, Power Factory, DigiSilent
• Design Consultant/EPC Contractor management skills for overseeing external design and construction teams.
• Experience with international building codes and construction practices.

Location

Dublin. Travel across Europe as required.
