What they need
HV Network & Distribution Engineer
Location: International opportunity (full relocation support)
Salary: Market leading, plus a comprehensive package
Reporting to: Engineering & Maintenance Manager
Working pattern: Full time, site-based, days
Help an in-house team take a critical HV network and leave it safer, more resilient and better run.
The opportunity
Our client is delivering a major engineering transformation programme on a critical infrastructure asset. You'll join a small, resident team of senior engineers embedded with the in-house staff, steering the review and improvement of substations, transformers, switchgear, cables, earthing and protection.
This is an implementation role, not an execution role. You won't be the one on the tools. Your job is to guide the local HV team: set the standards, show them what good looks like, and make sure improvements are delivered and stick.
What you'll be doing
- Guide the team in building a verified network baseline and power-system model for load-flow, fault-level, protection and arc-flash studies
- Oversee the review of protection settings, grading and trip logic, and put proper governance and change control around them
- Steer improvements to HV switching, fault isolation and restoration times
- Implement ISO 55001-aligned asset management and shift maintenance from reactive to risk and condition-based
- Lead root-cause analysis on repeat failures and strengthen HV safety rules and authorisations
- Coach local engineers and technicians and report progress through clear KPIs
What you'll bring
- Degree/HND in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering; CEng/IEng preferred
- 8+ years in HV distribution, power-system or protection engineering in a utility, industrial or safety-critical environment
- Strong protection coordination, relay testing, HV switching, earthing and fault analysis experience
- DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP or similar, and AP/SAP competence (highly desirable)
- A track record of raising standards and coaching others
