HVAC Engineer

Job Summary

The HVAC Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in residential, commercial, or industrial construction projects. This includes air-conditioning systems, ventilation systems, chilled water systems, ductwork, piping, and related mechanical equipment, ensuring all works comply with applicable mechanical codes, safety standards, and project specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop HVAC systems for residential, commercial, or industrial projects
• Prepare detailed HVAC drawings, layouts, schematics, equipment schedules, and specifications
• Review and interpret HVAC plans, blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications
• Supervise and monitor the installation of HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, insulation, and related systems on-site
• Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical codes, safety standards, and project requirements
• Conduct inspections, testing, balancing, and commissioning of HVAC systems
• Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, electrical engineers, plumbing engineers, and other project stakeholders
• Prepare material take-offs and estimate materials, labor requirements, equipment, and project timelines
• Monitor HVAC system performance and ensure proper installation and operation of equipment
• Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC system issues during construction, testing, commissioning, and after installation
• Monitor the quality and progress of HVAC works to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications
• Prepare reports, documentation, progress updates, inspection reports, and other project-related documents
• Ensure proper operation, maintenance, efficiency, and safety of HVAC systems
• Assist in the evaluation, modification, and implementation of HVAC system improvements
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors regarding HVAC equipment, materials, and installation requirements
• Ensure proper documentation of testing, commissioning, maintenance, and equipment performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• With or without Professional License
• Proven experience in HVAC design, installation, commissioning, and construction works
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, air-conditioning, ventilation, ductwork, piping, and mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, standards, and safety regulations
• Proficient in AutoCAD and other mechanical/HVAC engineering and design software
• Familiarity with HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, and system design
• Knowledge of testing, adjusting, balancing (TAB), and HVAC commissioning procedures is an advantage
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication, coordination, and project management skills
• Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with project teams
