HVAC Estimator/ Specialist

Seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator / Takeoff Specialist to assist with estimating commercial, multifamily, and residential HVAC projects.

The ideal candidate must be able to independently review construction drawings, mechanical plans, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate HVAC material and equipment takeoffs for bidding purposes.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical/HVAC plans, architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents.
• Perform detailed HVAC takeoffs from construction drawings.
• Prepare accurate material and equipment quantities for bidding.
• Identify HVAC equipment including split systems, heat pumps, VRF/mini-split systems, PTACs, exhaust fans, ventilation equipment, and related accessories.
• Perform ductwork takeoffs, including sheet metal duct, flexible duct, fittings, dampers, registers, grilles, diffusers, and louvers.
• Perform refrigeration piping, condensate piping, insulation, controls, and related HVAC accessory takeoffs.
• Review project plans for scope requirements and potential discrepancies.
• Identify items that may require RFIs or clarification before bidding.
• Obtain and review vendor/subcontractor pricing when required.
• Prepare organized bid worksheets and cost breakdowns.
• Coordinate with management to ensure the complete HVAC scope is captured before submitting a proposal.
• Review addendums and plan revisions and update estimates accordingly.
• Maintain organized estimating records for current and upcoming projects.

Qualifications

• Previous HVAC estimating and/or HVAC takeoff experience required.
• Strong understanding of HVAC construction drawings and mechanical plans.
• Knowledge of ductwork, HVAC equipment, ventilation systems, refrigeration piping, controls, and related materials.
• Ability to accurately read plans, schedules, details, and specifications.
• Experience with HVAC takeoff/estimating software is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet bid deadlines.
• Understanding of commercial and multifamily HVAC construction is highly preferred.

• Medical or healthcare facilities
• Residential and custom-home HVAC
• VRF and mini-split systems
• PTAC systems
• Exhaust and ventilation systems
• Sheet metal ductwork
• HVAC equipment replacement and installation

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who understands that an accurate takeoff is more than counting equipment and registers. The estimator must be able to review the entire HVAC scope, identify missing or unclear information, understand how the system will be installed, and make sure necessary materials, equipment, accessories, and labor requirements are accounted for before the project is bid.

Compensation: Based on HVAC estimating experience and qualifications.
