HVAC Installer

We are looking to hire an HVAC installer for . This person will perform site inspections, device installation, and post-install provisioning and quality inspections. They will interface with customers and become the front line of our mission to ease the transition to the electric home. The ideal candidate would grow with the company and help us improve the efficiency of the business over time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site visits: timely coordination and communication when traveling to customers’ homes
• Inspections: Inspect potential homes and building for feasibility of installing Merino products, including finding creative ways to install in old or unique buildings
• Inventory management: Manage equipment, including consumables, tools, and inventory to ensure a quality installation
• Installation: Install the products, which requires drilling and use of standard hand tools
• Installation Verification: Test the installation to ensure the device was installed correctly and is working properly, including troubleshooting where needed
• Cleaning: Clean and dispose of construction materials from customers home, leaving the space spotless

Key Qualifications:

• Ability to travel around the Bay Area to job sites, drivers license required
• 2+ years of experience working as HVAC installer in a residential setting
• Clear, direct, timely communication skills
• Experience working directly with customers
• Ability to perform construction activities - drilling, lifting, working on a ladder, moving equipment, measuring, levelling, cleaning, finishing
• Ability to manage and lead others during installations
• Post installation testing to confirm proper function and installation

Nice to Have Qualifications:

• C-20 license, C-10 license, C-22 license, or C-36 license
• California Building Energy Efficiency certification (CEA, ECC, etc)

Compensation & Benefits:

• Part-time hourly employee, with potential to convert to full-time
• $50-$125 per hour, depending on the job and past experience (see below for a breakdown in how we pay for jobs)

Merino Lead Installers Flat-Rat Guarantee:

All installers start off as “Merino Helpers”. This ensures that you get complete training on the job before leading installs. Upon completion of the 3rd job, you are promoted to “Merino Lead” and eligible for lead installer rates:

As a Merino Lead, you get paid:

• $250 to install 1 unit
• $400 to install 2 units
• $450 to install 3 units
• $500 to install 4 units

As a Merino Helper, you get paid:

• $200 to install 1 unit
• $350 to install 2 units
• $400 to install 3 units
• $450 to install 4 units

Jobs that require installing more than 4 units will get paid at an hourly rate between $50-$80 per hour, depending on the job and past experience. We expect that most installations will take around 2 hours per unit.

Merino Energy is easing the transition to electric homes. By building & installing easy-to-install heat pumps and other electric appliances, we can accelerate the electrification of urban homes by 8X compared to traditional solutions. Our team is small, but mighty, and we already have significant commercial traction installing our new heat pumps in Bay Area homes.
