A better opportunity for an experienced HVAC professional
C. Bell Heating & Air is looking for one strong HVAC professional who can contribute across both installation and service. We are intentionally keeping this role broad enough to attract an experienced installer, a strong service technician, or a well-rounded HVAC professional who can do both. The right person will be trusted to work independently, solve problems in the field, communicate professionally with customers and help us deliver high-quality work as we grow.
We have an active backlog of installation work and are entering the heating season, creating immediate opportunity across furnace replacements, service calls, tune-ups, diagnostics and repair. If your strongest background is installation, we want someone capable of taking ownership of complete jobs. If your strength is service, we want someone who can independently diagnose and resolve common residential HVAC problems and support installation work when the service schedule allows.
What you'll do
- Install, service, troubleshoot and maintain residential HVAC equipment, with some light-commercial work as needed.
- Independently perform or lead furnace and HVAC replacement installations based on demonstrated experience.
- Diagnose heating and cooling problems involving electrical systems, controls, airflow, combustion, venting, refrigeration and condensate systems.
- Work with gas furnaces, central A/C, heat pumps and cold-climate heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, boilers/hydronics, thermostats and controls.
- Perform proper refrigeration practices including recovery, pressure testing, evacuation, charging and system commissioning when qualified to do so.
- Fabricate or modify sheet-metal transitions and identify duct/airflow issues.
- Clearly explain findings, completed work and repair or replacement options homeowners.
- Document jobs with clear notes and photos.
- Be able to work independently when dispatched as well as effectively with installers, technicians, helpers and management.
- As experience and the company grow, help train less-experienced team members and take on additional field leadership.
What we're looking for
- Proven HVAC field experience in installation, service/diagnostics, or both.
- Ability to work independently within your demonstrated skill set and make sound field decisions.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills using meters and schematics.
- Working knowledge of gas furnace sequence of operation, combustion and venting.
- Understanding of airflow, duct systems, temperature rise and common system restrictions.
- Strong workmanship, reliability and a professional approach in customers' homes.
- Valid New York driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- EPA Section 608 Universal preferred. A strong candidate may be able to obtain required certification after hire.
- Heat-pump, cold-climate heat-pump, mini-split, boiler/hydronic or light-commercial experience is a plus.
Why experienced HVAC professionals should consider C. Bell
At C. Bell, an experienced technician is not just another number on a large crew. We are building the next stage of the company and want people whose judgment, craftsmanship and ideas matter. You'll have real responsibility, direct access to ownership and the opportunity to grow with the business as we expand our service operation, heat-pump and clean-energy work, light-commercial capabilities and field leadership.
- Top pay offered for proven capability: we are willing to pay for people who can truly perform.
- Retention bonus paid after six months of successful employment.
- Company vehicle and fuel for company field work.
- Company-provided specialty HVAC/refrigeration tools and diagnostic instruments.
- Company-supported training and required certifications.
- Opportunity for advancement into lead installer, field leadership or service leadership as the team grows.
- Variety of work across service, diagnostics, replacement installations, heat pumps and clean-energy projects.
- A company culture built around quality work and integrity, no corner cutting or pressure to sell customers work they do not need.
Schedule & territory
Full-time position serving Syracuse and the surrounding area. Typical workday is approximately 7:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. Seasonal overtime, an on-call rotation and occasional weekend/emergency service are part of HVAC work and will be discussed during the interview process. Normal field conditions include ladders, attics, crawlspaces and outdoor winter work. Overnight travel is not normally expected.
Compensation
Top pay is available and compensation will reflect the level of experience, technical capability, independence, certifications and leadership you bring to the role. A retention bonus is paid after six months of successful employment. Overtime and on-call compensation are handled separately from base pay.
The person who will do well here
You take pride in fixing or installing something correctly the first time. You can troubleshoot rather than simply replace parts. You communicate well with homeowners, show up when you say you will, take responsibility for your work and can work independently without believing you know everything. You want to be part of a team where strong performance earns trust, opportunity and greater responsibility.
