Overview
To support this growth, we are seeking HVAC Mechanical Assemblers to play a key role in the production of our HVAC systems.

The Mechanical Assembler builds TMI’s custom air handling units, assembling sheet metal wall and roof panels onto a structural floor system and installing internal mechanical components such as coils, fans, filters, and sound attenuators. Every unit is large and custom-engineered, so this role works from new blueprints on nearly every build. This is not repetitive line assembly; it requires strong blueprint reading, precise measuring, and the ability to solve fit-up problems on the floor.

Responsibilities

• Position, align, and trim parts to form complete units or subassemblies, following plans and layout specifications and using jigs and hand tools
• Verify that parts conform to specifications using a ruler and tape measure
• Organize and inspect metal stock and parts before processing to confirm they meet specifications
• Align and adjust parts to specification using grips, turnbuckles, shims, bars, and hammers
• Read engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences
• Move parts into position manually or with a hoist or crane
• Cut, bend, straighten, hammer, and grind metal parts to shape
• Install coils, fans, filters, sound attenuators, interior and exterior walls, roofs, and other components
• Use ladders, stepladders, and lifting platforms to assemble units safely
• Follow all safety rules and quality standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience assembling large or custom-built equipment from blueprints, in mechanical assembly, sheet metal fabrication, or a similar manufacturing role
• Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Ability to take and read measurements accurately with a tape measure and ruler
• Solid shop math skills, including adding, subtracting, and converting fractions
• Experience using hand tools, jigs, and measuring tools such as a ruler and tape measure
• Solid understanding of shop safety practices and quality standards
• Proactive in identifying issues and implementing effective solutions
• Versatile and self-directed, with a strong sense of responsibility
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Experience operating a hoist or overhead crane is an asset
• HVAC manufacturing experience is an asset
