What they need
HVAC SERVICE & SALES TECHNICIANSelling Tech | Uncapped Commission | Company Truck | 100% Company-Paid Employee Benefits
If you're a real HVAC selling tech, you probably know your numbers. We want to hear them.
Heatwave AC, Plumbing & Electrical is looking for an experienced HVAC Service & Sales Technician who can diagnose systems, solve customers' problems, professionally present solutions, and close business.
This is not a position for a parts changer.
And it's not a position for someone who needs to hand every sales opportunity to somebody else.
We're looking for the technician who can walk into a customer's home, figure out what's actually wrong, explain it in a way the homeowner understands, provide legitimate options, and confidently ask for the business.
You need to be technically strong AND know how to sell.
If you're good at both, we want to talk.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
This is a hybrid service, sales, and turnover position.
You'll be responsible for:
- Running HVAC service calls
- Running HVAC sales opportunities
- Diagnosing difficult system issues
- Running turnovers behind maintenance technicians
- Identifying larger repair and replacement opportunities
- Presenting repair, upgrade, and replacement options
- Educating homeowners on their systems
- Presenting financing options
- Closing your own opportunities
- Following opportunities through to a decision
- Producing revenue while taking care of the customer
Your job is not to sell customers things they don't need.
Your job is to diagnose the entire system, uncover the customer's actual problems, educate them on what you found, provide professional solutions, and help them make the right decision.
Then ask for the business.
YOU NEED TO ACTUALLY KNOW HVAC
We're not looking for someone whose diagnostic process is:
"Let's change this part and see what happens."
You need to understand HVAC systems as systems.
That includes:
- Refrigeration diagnostics
- Electrical diagnostics
- Static pressure
- Airflow
- Duct systems
- Blower performance
- Temperature split and system performance
- Equipment application
- Drainage and condensate issues
- Indoor air quality
- Repair vs. replacement
- Overall system performance
Static pressure and airflow knowledge are requirements for this position.
If you don't know how to properly evaluate airflow or understand how static pressure affects system performance, this probably isn't the position for you.
We diagnose.
We don't shotgun parts.
YOU ALSO NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SELL
Being a great mechanic isn't enough for this particular position.
You need to be comfortable:
- Building trust with homeowners
- Asking good questions
- Identifying customer needs
- Communicating technical problems in plain English
- Presenting multiple solutions
- Explaining value instead of just giving a price
- Discussing money professionally
- Presenting financing
- Handling objections
- Asking for the sale
- Closing repair opportunities
- Closing replacement opportunities
- Following up when necessary
We aren't looking for a high-pressure salesperson.
We're looking for a high-level HVAC professional who knows how to sell.
There's a big difference.
IF YOU'RE A PRODUCER, KNOW YOUR NUMBERS
This is important.
We are looking for producers.
If you've worked as a selling technician, HVAC service technician, comfort advisor, or HVAC salesperson, you should have some understanding of your production.
As part of our application process, we'll ask you for your best estimate of:
- Average monthly revenue produced
- Average service ticket
- Repair close rate
- HVAC replacement close rate, if applicable
- Average monthly replacement revenue generated
- Your best production month
- Approximate annual income in your last comparable position
- How you were compensated
You don't need to remember every number down to the penny.
But if you tell us you're a top producer and have absolutely no idea what you produced, that's going to be difficult for us to believe.
Top performers generally know where they stand.
We're not asking because we're obsessed with spreadsheets.
We're asking because performance is measurable.
Be prepared to talk about your numbers, how you produced them, and what you believe you could produce at Heatwave.
THIS IS A COMMISSION-BASED POSITION
Your income is directly tied to your production.
Produce more. Earn more.
We're not looking for somebody who wants to clock in, run a couple calls, collect a paycheck, and coast.
We want someone who sees a full call board and sees opportunity.
If you've ever been frustrated watching mediocre technicians make almost the same money as you while you consistently outperform them, this compensation structure should make sense to you.
Your earning potential isn't capped by an hourly wage.

WEEKENDS ARE VOLUNTARY
Weekend work is voluntary.

DON'T APPLY IF...

- You think sales is somebody else's responsibility.
- You shotgun parts instead of diagnosing.
- You refuse to go into an attic because it's hot.
- You don't like discussing money with customers.
- You're uncomfortable asking for the business.
- You believe showing up is the same thing as producing.
- You're looking for somewhere to hide.
- You're looking for a temporary job until something better comes along.
We're building a serious service department.
We don't need more bodies.
We need builders.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for the technician who can walk into a difficult service call, figure out what three other people missed, and prove what's actually happening.
Then explain it to the homeowner without confusing them.
Present legitimate options.
Answer their questions.
Offer financing when appropriate.
And confidently ask:
"Which option works best for you?"
That's the person we're looking for.
Someone technically sharp.
Someone who can communicate.
Someone who can sell.
Someone who takes ownership.
Someone who wants to produce.
And somebody who sees an opportunity to grow with Heatwave instead of just collecting another paycheck.
If you're that technician, apply.
And be ready to show us your numbers.
