HVAC Technician (Commercial)

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair a wide range of commercial HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems.
• Read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately.
• Perform electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems using tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters.
• Conduct routine maintenance on mechanical systems to prevent breakdowns and improve efficiency.
• Repair refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration units, ensuring compliance with safety standards such as EPA regulations.
• Utilize hand tools and specialized equipment to perform system repairs and installations efficiently.
• Collaborate with clients to provide exceptional customer service by explaining repairs, maintenance procedures, and system functionalities clearly.
• Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and logs for all performed tasks.
• Assist in the installation of new HVAC equipment ensuring proper integration with existing building systems.
• Support the operation of building automation systems for optimal climate control management.

Experience

• Proven experience working as an HVAC service technician in commercial settings with construction experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience repairing HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration) systems.
• Familiarity with schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and HVAC design principles.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical diagnostics and mechanical systems repair using appropriate tools.
• Knowledge of plumbing related to HVAC systems including condensate drainage and refrigerant piping.
• Ability to operate hand tools safely and efficiently; familiarity with equipment repair procedures is essential.
• Valid EPA certification for handling refrigerants; additional certifications such as HVAC/R licenses are advantageous.
• Experience working with building automation systems (BAS) or similar controls is a plus.
• Valid van driver’s license with a clean driving record for timely service calls across multiple sites.

Pay: $33.12 - $60.00 per hour
