What they need

SENIOR VRF / COMMERCIAL HVAC MECHANICVRF VRV CITY MULTI LG AAON HYBRID SYSTEMSExperienced Individuals and Established Teams Welcome

Mountain Mechanical NY, Inc. is seeking experienced commercial HVAC/VRF mechanics with a minimum of five years of verifiable field experience servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning sophisticated HVAC systems in Class A commercial buildings and high-end mechanical environments throughout the New York metropolitan area.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for experienced mechanical professionals who understand complete HVAC systems—not technicians limited to changing parts or working exclusively on one manufacturer.

Candidates should be comfortable moving between VRF/VRV systems, packaged equipment, hydronic systems, controls, refrigeration, ventilation equipment, and conventional commercial HVAC systems.

Experienced two-person teams are welcome and encouraged to apply.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Candidates must have at least five years of verifiable commercial HVAC field experience, including hands-on experience with several of the following:

  • Daikin VRV/VRF systems
  • Mitsubishi Electric CITY MULTI
  • LG Multi V / commercial VRF systems
  • AAON packaged and applied equipment
  • Hybrid HVAC systems
  • Water-source heat pumps
  • Commercial split systems
  • Packaged rooftop equipment
  • DOAS and make-up air systems
  • Heat recovery systems
  • Heat recovery boxes / branch selector boxes
  • Commercial refrigeration circuits
  • Hydronic heating and cooling systems
  • Pumps, valves, strainers, and associated piping
  • Building management and control systems
  • Class A office buildings, multifamily towers, hotels, institutional facilities, and other high-profile commercial properties

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful mechanic must be capable of independently performing advanced HVAC service and diagnostic work, including:

  • Diagnose VRF/VRV system faults and manufacturer error codes.
  • Troubleshoot complete refrigeration circuits rather than replacing components based solely on fault codes.
  • Connect and properly use manufacturer diagnostic/service software.
  • Perform system commissioning and startup procedures.
  • Verify proper equipment addressing and system communication.
  • Troubleshoot indoor/outdoor unit communication failures.
  • Diagnose branch selector, heat recovery, and refrigerant distribution problems.
  • Troubleshoot inverter-driven compressors and associated electronics.
  • Diagnose compressor, fan motor, EEV, thermistor, pressure sensor, control board, and communication failures.
  • Troubleshoot conventional compressors, contactors, relays, transformers, capacitors, motors, and safeties.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting using meters, megohmmeters, and other appropriate test instruments.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and ladder diagrams.
  • Read mechanical plans, piping diagrams, sequence-of-operation documents, and equipment submittals.
  • Understand single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
  • Diagnose phase loss, voltage imbalance, overcurrent, grounding, and power-quality problems.
  • Perform refrigerant leak searches using appropriate electronic and pressure-testing methods.
  • Recover, evacuate, pressure test, vacuum, charge, and commission refrigeration systems.
  • Properly weigh refrigerant charges and calculate additional refrigerant requirements.
  • Understand refrigerant piping limitations, equivalent lengths, elevation differences, and oil-management requirements.
  • Properly braze refrigerant piping using nitrogen.
  • Diagnose airflow and static-pressure problems.
  • Measure supply, return, outside-air, and exhaust-air conditions.
  • Evaluate evaporator and condenser performance.
  • Diagnose economizer and ventilation problems.
  • Troubleshoot condensate pumps, drains, float switches, traps, and associated drainage problems.
  • Diagnose hydronic flow and water-temperature problems.
  • Check pumps, valves, strainers, actuators, flow switches, and control valves.
  • Evaluate entering and leaving water temperatures.
  • Troubleshoot water-source heat pump systems.
  • Work with boilers, pumps, cooling towers, condenser-water systems, and associated HVAC equipment where applicable.
  • Diagnose DOAS, ERV, HRV, and make-up air equipment.
  • Troubleshoot gas-fired heating equipment when applicable.
  • Understand basic combustion and heating safety circuits.
  • Interface with building management systems and controls contractors.
  • Determine whether equipment failures are mechanical, electrical, refrigeration-related, control-related, installation-related, or building-system related.
  • Perform factory-level troubleshooting before recommending major component replacement.
  • Complete equipment startups and verification reports.
  • Document refrigerant readings, electrical readings, temperatures, pressures, error histories, and diagnostic findings.
  • Take clear jobsite photographs and provide accurate technical documentation.
  • Prepare professional service reports describing the problem, diagnosis, corrective action, and recommendations.
  • Generate accurate material and parts requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with property managers, building engineers, superintendents, manufacturers, general contractors, and other trades.

THE PROFESSIONAL WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for mechanics who understand that an error code is the beginning of a diagnosis—not the diagnosis itself.

The right individual can arrive at a difficult commercial HVAC problem, gather the necessary information, understand the system as a whole, perform a logical diagnostic process, determine the actual cause of failure, communicate those findings clearly, and make the repair correctly.

If your experience includes VRF, VRV, CITY MULTI, LG, AAON, water-source heat pumps, controls, refrigeration, electrical troubleshooting, and complex commercial HVAC systems, we want to speak with you.

EXPERIENCED TEAMS WELCOME

Established two-person service teams who have successfully worked together in commercial HVAC and VRF service environments are encouraged to apply.
